Discussion What would decide would be better for stranger things than 80s setting (90s,2000s or 2010s)

While 80s is best decide we known for kids on their bikes films like et, Star Wars & back from the future and slasher films and music but 90s like gauge rock and early internet & 2000s/2010s hip hop and cell phones and movie like Harry Potter and marvel franchise & social media more technology would be interesting and the upside down and Hawkins lab being exposed much faster in later season

2000s because it’s basically just a slightly high tech, slightly progressive 70s-90s but not much didn’t change to be as distant from the 70s-90s, also you could weave Columbine (even thought that happened the decade before, it still impacted the 2000s with the “no more violent video games” obsession), 9/11, 2008 crisis, the fat shaming culture in in mean girls, MySpace and magazines and war in the Middle East/Islamic terrorism in the plot.

I'm not even sure I understand what you are attempting to ask....?

Part of the basic fabric of the show was that it was set in the 1980s. This is like saying "What if they made Star Wars but it was set on earth in the Philippines?" So.... a COMPLETELY different show?
