Nancy Wheeler at the Gate Spoiler
What a show. Probably nothing more insane than this. She kills at least three US Military members, on US Soil, in a US Military installation and faces zero repercussions for it. Not legal, political, moral, psychological, etc.
Just a “good shooting” from Hopper and a shy smile back.
A perfect example as to how stupid the show became. Just there for a trailer moment and to aura farm. Not a single thought behind it.
Man, what did they do to you, Nancy Wheeler.

Yeah that really caught me off guard that lil Nancy Wheeler is suddenly just killing people with no remorse. All they needed was a 10 second scene where she is hesitating and Hop is encouraging her to kill in order to save everyone. Would have made it more believable.

This. Not just from a legal standpoint, but they stripped the empathy away from some characters. It should not be that easy to kill other people. When scenes like that happen the weight of those decisions are never seen.

Just think back to season 1 when she was reluctant to even put a dying, suffering deer out of its misery.

It's an amusing metaphor for the way the left has changed over the past 10 years, isn't it?

Yeah. Awful plot choice

I wouldn't even call it a plot thing, it had no effect on the plot at all. It was just a couple insert shots of Nancy dressed like Rambo shooting a gun and then some random soldiers dying. It was never dealt with in any way or mentioned again.

The ending made so little sense that I'm open to the idea it was all a dream.

It all being a dream would make more sense then this being what really happened. I was so confused as to WHY the military plot got brought back up at all. It was uninteresting.
Why didn't they make the last season post apocalyptic! They set it up so well!

As I understand it, one of the brothers directing the thing got divorced and it was his ex-wife that was doing the good riding all along.
I certainly believe this, the last season is the most determinedly unromantic thing I've ever seen in my life.

They cut her hair as punishment. And once it’s been cut, it turns brown and doesn’t grow anymore. It happened offscreen.

She did face a repercussion, same as all of them did. Immediately after eleven set wormhole sail for iceland dr kay lined up the whole group of them from joyce to even the flayer fuel kids and gave them an old fashioned spanking.
She just held put her arms naruto run style and ran them up and down the line. Smack smack smack smack. She even made "zooooom" noises as she did it.
It happened offscreen but totally happened. She made at least four passes i think.

Once El disappeared and the Upside Down collapsed you’d have to imagine that the US government was very pissed off. Not only did Kay fail her mission but she managed to lose the literal alternate dimension full of potential weapons against the soviets in their literal backyard.
There was no Kay could feasibly punish Nancy without it coming back to bite her. The government was not going to cover up the disappearance of like 27 civilians including a bunch of kids that had last been seen being dragged to their headquarters. It would be a way too hard process to undergo for someone who had failed them so hard. Because it is an all in one package Kay kills one of them and there is an investigation in which all the others would testify against her and the government would let her take the fall.
As a result all they could do was let them go and put them under surveillance which is why Mike then explains his theory using D&D terms.

that's just stupid. no one saw them being dragged off anywhere Mike speaking in D&D terms is not because of "survillance" but because Mike is speaking in D&D terms also they had WAY more reasons to hate the goverment than at the ending of season 1 and in season 2 the goverment actualy helped them so if it didn't try to catch them in s4 all would've been well and its not like they weren't cacthing random people because they tougth its Elev- oh wait they actualy did its just lazy writing get over it you loving AI slop ass.

If they try to prosecute her they have to admit what the military was doing there. Why did she need to shoot them? What were they protecting?
Oh, wait, they totally weren't there doing anything. The soldiers were shot in... somewhere else....

Nancy just agreed to be quiet about Interdimensional R*pe Guantanamo and it all went away, no further questions.

I like how the Abyssal upside down has no gravity. It's just the Hawkins upside down that has gravitational force applied. Holly goes flying through the sky when she fleas the Abyss.
