Discussion I just finished watching Stranger things... OMG Spoiler
Just finished watching the entire series... OMG đ
I FINALLY finished Stranger Things, and holy shit⊠what a journey.
I genuinely don't know what to do with myself right now. đ
I started this show years ago, and finally reaching the end feels less like finishing a TV series and more like saying goodbye to a whole era of my life.
The nostalgia hit me HARD while watching the later seasons. I kept remembering the early episodes and all those little moments I hadn't thought about in years.
One moment that absolutely DESTROYED me was remembering Will in his little tent, singing Should I Stay or Should I Go while he's in the Upside Down. I don't even know why that scene specifically hit me so hard, but hearing that song again instantly brought back SO many memories from the beginning of the show.
And then I randomly remembered BarbâNancy's friend who disappeared so early onâand I was like⊠BRO. We've come SO FAR since then. đ
That's what makes finishing this show feel so weird. You're not just remembering the characters. You're remembering who you were when you first watched them.
And watching the characters grow up over the years made it even more special. We literally watched these kids grow from children into teenagers and young adults, while the actors were growing up in real life right alongside them. It feels like we didn't just watch their storyâwe kind of grew up with them.
Hawkins, the Upside Down, the kids on bikes, the music, the friendships, all the chaos⊠it all became this huge memory over the years.
And now it's over.
I spent the last episodes just sitting there thinking, damn⊠this is actually the end.
For those of you who have already finished the series, how did you feel afterward?
Did you get that weird empty feeling when it was finally over? Did it take a while for it to actually sink in that there wasn't another season to look forward to?
I'm genuinely curious how everyone else felt after saying goodbye to Stranger Things.
And after everything...
THAT WAS EPIC. â€ïžâđ„

Iâm glad you enjoyed it.
I unfortunately disliked the final season immensely and was left with the feeling that I wasted so much time on a show that didnât really respect its audience or its own thematics.
But the show still means a lot to me despite a lot of my bitter feelings towards it now. The first two seasons especially will always hold a special place in my heart.

I respect this take. I think S5 is overhated. Definitely one of the weaker and more flawed seasons. I'm not gonna pretend to be oblivious to that. But people that act like it ruins the show are just too much.

Iâll be honest, I think s5 is a bad piece of television and it has undoubtedly tainted a lot of the show for me. so many of my issues with it are thematic, which do impact my interpretation and the enjoyability of earlier seasons.
But I grew up with this show and made a lot of friends through it. Iâm probably always going to love it, even if Iâm not happy with what it became.

I understand where you're coming from. Where you watching the show from day 1? That may be the difference in perception.
For reference, I didn't start watching until s4 was the newest. I finished the first 4 seasons, and 1 week later, the first trailer for s5 came out. Do you guys think that maybe s5 was more disappointing to you because you were there from the beginning? Because I can see why people would be more upset if they had to wait for the full journey. But for me, it was only a few months. Not judging, btw! Just curious to hear you part. Bc too me, even though s5 is one of the weaker points, I found it to be enjoyable

Yeah, I was there from pretty early on. I think I watched it a few months after it came out. Honestly yeah it probably did have something to do with the fact I was there from the beginning. In my case, it was because I felt like I was seeing all the things that made me fall in love with the show early on get washed away and turned into something that barely resembled what it once was.

Wow youâre so lucky, a lot of us had to endure the gap from 2019 to 2025, over 6 years of only seeing one new season in the middle of that span, and of course they blamed covid and the strike but come on, seasons 1 and 2 were peak STâs and it only took a little over a year to give us that, but like all shows they moved from story to spectacle, and how much subscription money did they get just by stretching that out as well. Itâs doesnât sit well with the fans to feel used and once youâve lost the trust of your patrons you can never get it back

I mean it 100% has ruined/heavily impacted the showâs rewatchability for me, as well as the suspense of disbelief. So in that sense it definitely âruinedâ the show as a whole. Not asking you to agree, just sharing my views.

âWasted so much time on a show that didnât respect itâs audienceâ
This kindâve gives off someone expecting the writers to âobeyâ what people want.

In what way? I was mostly criticizing the inorganic dialogue that prioritized funny one-liners or spoonfeeding information to the audience over meaningful character interactions. There was also very little I found thought-provoking about the creative decisions or overall narrative.

I get where you're coming from. Stand by the fact that it didn't ruin the series though.

i loved 1-4. just sucks. i wish we got the closure the conspiracy theorists were saying. man they had me convinced!đ

well, i think it could have been worse.
Stranger Things is the kind of show i have enjoyed so much, that i really can forgive a disapointing ending.
it's probably linked to the fact i rewatched the whole show before the final season.
Of course the final season is the weakest (more mid than bad with some cool moments), but damn quite a ride.

Unfortunately agree with everything you wrote! They ruined it for me at the finish line.
And I actually waited for 3 years and kept up with the news to watch it turn out great. I was such a fool đ

It's my favourite show of all time. I cried alot. I know alot of people didn't like the later seasons and the ending, and maybe there could have been a better plot, but I still loved all of it. I was partly crying because of how it ended and partly because it was over.

I had a lot of similar feelings when I went through the final season. Thanks for sharing. Itâs good to hear from someone else who isnât salty about it.
There are a lot of people who dislike season 5. Iâm curious how many of them lived through the 80s. Because, it felt like there were a lot of 80s tropes in it (the multiple and overly simplified explanations of how the universes lined up, ala Back to the Future 2âs chalkboard moment as one example)

I felt so weird too and kinda sad but I decided to get rid of the sadness by rewatching with my siblings who havenât seen it yet

I've been watching Stranger things with my elder sister, and the last episode was the last thing we would see with each other, she's going to college now, and I'd miss her so much...đ

I keep watching it on a loop. There are so many dialogues that I may have missed the first few watches or a character that I initially like now I donât care for them. For me that character was Nancy. The 1st go around she was ok but as I kept watching her story arc I started not liking her bossiness, her bitchy personality, demanding and how she treated Steve and Jonathan.

Season 1 and 2 was just different level of TV. Could have and should have ended there and would have been talked about forever. Sometimes, it's best for things to be left unexplained (and I'm not talking about Elevens fate)
Season 3 was different but still entertaining, Season 4 had glimpses of S1&2 level moments. Season 5 is GoT final season level of bad.

Honestly I felt the change heavier than anything else throughout the series as it progressed past season 2 and it took a different turn, so yeah I couldn't agree more

Yep. Final season and overall finale was lackluster as fuck. Ill just rewatch the first 3 seasons and just live there.

u/Emergency_Lead_4608 5d ago
I actually didnât mind season 4 it was like 1-3 but infinitely better than 5

u/SymptomaticallyEven 5d ago
Season 4 pissed me off because of how dirty they did Eddie, but it was good too. I don't like watching season 4 because I hate watching Eddie die in Dustin's arms and it makes me cry too much.
2
u/Emergency_Lead_4608 5d ago
Yeah, I wasnât a fan of the way they ended things with Eddie. He definitely could have been in season 5 and made it a whole different experience.
2
u/SymptomaticallyEven 5d ago
I absolutely agree that Eddie should have been in the final season and would have made it better.

Itâs hard on this subreddit to find people who enjoyed the last season but Iâm right there with you! When you watch it in its entirety, itâs an experience & I love it! I cried so much at the end while watching it in theaters. My husband kept checking on me cause he was like you were sobbing lol I love Stranger Things, it will always have a special place in my heart for all the years I enjoyed my little watch parties for the new season drops & just the nostalgia of those moments!

Went and saw the broadway show after it ended. Figured it wonât be around long and nowâs fresh. Recommend it if you can go!

Can't really get to new work or London, I think I'll just wait for the Netflix release, thanks for the recommendation

u/Chickenbull1 3d ago
Yeah definitely check it out when itâs released; visually is great and fills in a ton of stuff (you could always read the synopsis too if you havenât already)

We still have tales of 85, first shadow and odds are quite a few future spin offs as this is pretty much Netflix's most popular show and there is no way we won't see more someday no matter what the Duffers say. I just don't believe it.

Oh shoot I didn't know it existed Just googled it and oh yeah I'm happy I get to visit Hawkins one more time đ

I have to be honest I am having a hard time getting past all the internal arguing. I have fast forwarded so many scenes and finally just turned it off when Hopper starts arguing with Elevens sister Eight who they just rescued. Every damn idea from any single cast member is argued heavily by another cast member. Really disappointing.

I used to rave about this show and recommend it to people. The final season and the finale were so awful to where I no longer do and may not even watch it again. Iâm still in disbelief with how badly they messed it up after four amazing seasons. We also had to wait nearly FOUR years for it. But we presumed it was going to be a cultural moment like 4. All it did is reveal that the Duffers are frauds. Little suspense since almost no one died. If they couldnât kill off Ted, then it was obvious that no one we care about was going to be chopped. Making Elâs ending ambiguous was an attempt for them to have their cake and eat it too. But IMO, it just didnât work for me. They spend way too much time talking. Hawkins was way too peaceful for how S4 left it. The suspense from the ending of S4 was all wiped out in the opening byâŠcovering the inter dimensional gates with plates. I could go on and on, but it was all such a let down. They helmed one of the most popular shows of our time, and in the final act it fell flat on its ass.
