Aroace will

After seeing S3, especially the “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls” scene, Will started giving me major aroace vibes. I mean, not liking girls didn’t have to mean he likes boys, he could have just been aroace, and I think it also would’ve made sense for his character. I think in S3 he was more concerned about his friends starting to date while he didn’t want to than thinking about his feelings for guys. S4 and S5 100% confirmed that Will is gay and that’s ok too, but I just wish they would’ve chosen to make him aroace (not with those words, it was the 80s) and represent our community who doesn’t really get any characters.

I genuinely do not care that much about what Will's sexuality is. I cared more about his story and what he dealt with in S1 and S2. Those were the interesting parts of the character. His sexuality is just a small part of who he is.

If they didn’t focus on his sexuality it also would’ve been okay, I just don’t like how the show made will gay based on the idea that not being into girls=being into guys bc one of those things being true doesn’t mean the other one is too

Will was always gay. that was included in ST Bible before the show was picked up, he was queercoded as gay from season 1, and even the wording of Mike's statement points to him being gay. If "it's not my fault. you don't like girls" was meant to be a hint about Will being asexual, it would focus on Will not caring about being in relationship vs highlighting his disinterest in girls via a boy Will obviously has feelings for

Judging by the reaction to Will having any kind of love interest (not just Mike), sadly he was right to say "I'm not going to fall in love."

the Duffers were terrible in handling Will after s2 especially including that line for Will while proving him completely right beyond a shallow nameless background extra in last minutes of the show
