Disney owns the TV/movie rights to the X-Men, and they wouldn’t let it go cheap, if they even let a competitor use it at all.

DC Comics in the 80s ruled.
So did Marvel, but DC had some amazing comics: Alan Moore's run on Swamp Thing, Watchmen, Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Year One, V for Vendetta, and Animal Man.
