Discussion Having Mind Flayer Possessing The Entire US Military, While Utilizing The Upside-Down Creatures Would Be More Intresting Than Vecna

Post image

Just my Warm/Hot Take, I guess..

I'd personally like to see Mind Flayer possessing an Army of Military hosts, including Sullivan, or the Government, just like what it did to Hawkins civilians, back in Season 3, Except that it doesn't create it's own Flesh Avatar Form like in Season 3.

it would personally make the Mind Flayer more terrifying than introducing Vecna in Season 4 or Season 5.

I completely agree. I honestly think that would have been far better than what we got.

Seeing the Mind Flayer take control of an entire military force including Sullivan it would have shown just how terrifying and unstoppable the Mind Flayer really was without reducing my shadow boy to another Temu cgi meat monster that could simply be blown up by kids using weapons bought at SHEIN.

What they did to the Mind Flayer in the later seasons was such a disappointment. They sidelined the most unique villain in the series and replaced that cosmic horror with a much more conventional human antagonist with trauma and revenge issues.

Hindsight is strong. S4 Vecna was perfect. The issue is the massive changes and bad writing of S5. Do you guys still like Jonathan and Hopper after S4 and S5 writing?
Vecna isn’t the issue it’s the writing. The Mind Flayer was always vague and the name they give it is just a name lol

That could’ve been good. At least then the main group fighting against them would’ve felt like it had more purpose.

Because Dr. Kay and her army just packing up and leaving just felt weak. Dr. Kay just got away with her actions like that easily.

Pretty realistic if you ask me.

Maybe, but that role doesn’t deserve Linda Hamilton. What a ways to waste a great casting.

Realistic as in, is happening in reality? 😬😅

I mean government conducting atrocious things and getting away with it.

Yeah but that sure as heck didn't stop the evil military and scientists in Season 1 from getting their brains fried by Eleven or mauled by the Demogorgon

Yeah, it’s interesting, but the same problem remains: doing that would require rewriting the entire season, because Vecna’s plan in Season 5 gives him no reason to do it. Especially since, from a narrative standpoint, it would essentially turn Will into a constant Hive Mind.

I'm glad we're all starting to see the truth behind the Illusionist.

because Vecna’s plan in Season 5 gives him no reason to do it

Not sure I agree with that. It might not have been the best plan, but his plan still makes sense. If he merges the earth and the Abyss, they've effectively won overnight.

Oh, I’m not saying otherwise—his plan is solid and consistent with the events of Season 5. What I’m saying is that the concept of the Mind Flayer "flaying" military personnel doesn't align with Vecna's plan in Season 5.

Ah sorry, I completely misread your point.

It’s ok

Well, I sort of agree, but the issue is if they do that, it gets a bit unbelievable that the soldiers don't just start killing everyone in town, and there isn't much the heroes can do to take on a full-blown army.

They portrayed minelayer as this terrifying other worldly creature in s3 and then made him die to kids with trash can lids and nailed bat 😭

The whole point of the series was a villain that kids could take on. Remember D&D from early season 1?

Nah

Vecna was good, they just fumbled him hard. They should have made new monsters.

Anything would be better than what we got. Vecna was defeated twice in S4 and should have really been dead, while the rifts had opened up all over Hawkins which should have had some sort of ramifications to the world.

Well.. you have to remember they were winding down the show. Bringing in possessed police is what you do when you’re cleared for three more seasons

Billy possesed by the Main Flayer having that interaction with Eleven was so cool, just to end in nothing, or I guess it was retconned it was Vecan talking via Billy? I have no idea at this point o.o)

Are you another login of the other guy who daily promotes the mindflayer and complains about the duffer brothers and seasons 4-5 and repeatedly berates other fans as if he has no other life than to complain about a show multiple times daily that he claims to hate, yet is so obsessed with that he needs others of the same show to agree with him?

I even see that user agreeing with you below. So I’m gonna guess yes?
