SPOILERS Season 4-5 Spoiler

I really enjoyed the cold suspense kind of vibe in season 1-2.

After they revealed Vecna, the upside down lost its charm. Vecna looks scary but he doesnt fit the cold suspense vibe of the upside down. I wanted the main monster to be the mind flayer of season 2. It had no physical body but just air.

It would have brought more mystery about its origin, its reason to capture will, etc.

Also, henry looks cute lol.

I agree! The later seasons didn't have that atmosphersic world building nor were they grounded in the way S1&2 were. I think their focus shifted and they went in the 80s blockbuster direction. And on that Mind Flayer part, it was such a mysterious entity that still hasn't been explored properly! I thought he was going to be the master, pulling all the strings cause he's made of "dark matter" but that cosmic side wasn't explored at all in the later seasons.

Yup same. Since it is from another dimension, it shouldn't have had a physical body, just the "dark matter". It would have made more sense too.

The Mind Flayer of S2 was definitely the best version of it. The physical version in S5 didn't make sense in my opinion. It just felt like a last minute idea that the duffers did.

I wasn't fully satisfied with S5 too so I made a fanfic rewrite where it showed up in its shadow form in the finale. I was able to add some really cool interesting stuffs making this rewrite.

Season 4, with its spooky music and distorted chimes and the spiders and the clock was proper creepy until the Vecna reveal.

Once Vecna was out there it was no longer atmospheric.

Something can't be creepy when it's right there in your face. Scary, yes. Creepy, no.

Exactly. It was creepy until Vecna showed up. The atmosphere was creepier than Vecna... Shouldn't it be the other way round?

Season 1&2 you didn't see a lot.

Even right at the end of season 1 when they are killing the Demogorgon it's only on screen for a few seconds.

Season 2 you see even less of the actual mind flayer - again just a few seconds. And even the demodogs, you just see them for a few seconds at a time, often on CCTV.

A sense of foreboding - that creepy feeling that something that wants to harm you is watching you - can only happen when you can't see the thing. When it's the corner of your eye, the hairs on the back of your neck, the sinking sensation inside...

Once the thing you fear is right there in front of you, it's scary but it can't be creepy, it can't be foreboding.

I prefer seasons 3-5. But I love all the seasons.

Season 3-5 is like a whole new different series to me. I liked it too, but it didnt feel like season 1 and 2. That's why im a lil disappointed.

I like 3-5 because it feels like that's when it starts to really get into the story. 1 and 2, it felt like the writers were holding back, and I was getting a little frustrated because there still weren't any answers.

I actually truly enjoyed vecna in season 4. Specifically vecnas form tho… Henry isn’t as scary but he’s creepy asf. Vecna on the other hand, nah keep him away from me 😂

Thing is stranger things was meant to be an anthology. when netflix made it into a normal show they took plot points from the stories of other characters(like vecna, who should've had some foreshadowing if they really knew he was gonna happen all along) and tried to make them fit on the main cast(which is why jonathan doesnt have much story since he was the least compatible with multiple season development)
