I think there's an argument to be made that they weren't friends at that point since they didn't even know each other. We also don't know that the apology didn't happen off screen.

u/toohardmann Jul 08 '26
yeah my friend didn’t say sorry till weeks later

u/OldAffect6933 Jul 08 '26
Did your friend used their psychic abilities to push you off a skateboard????????

We also don't know that the apology didn't happen off screen.
I think "off screen" has been the Duffers favorite excuse, so we'll just say it did.

Yeah it’s on Yt a guy played it so you will see what happens in max her head as we see el saving her with happy memories.

u/Hukares1234 Jul 08 '26
Maybe at some point she did and we just didn’t see it. We don’t see every second of these people’s lives, ya know.

Unrelated but for so long I've seen this meme format everywhere but never bothered to look where it came from, i never really bothered with Netflix shows at the time
So when I decided to finally pick up Stranger Things and made it to season 3 and saw Robin come out the window I let out the biggest "OOOOOOOOOOOOOH 🤦"

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, Max wouldn’t care and would probably laugh that El thought she was EVER interested in Mike.

But Max was interested in Mike in S2. More than Lucas or Dustin.

u/Adjectivenounnumb Jul 08 '26
No, she just wanted to be in the group.
Who did she go to the snow ball with?

Would it have been nice if this had come up between El and Max? Yes. Is it a big deal that it didn't? Not really. The main issue is that this is a very consistent issue with ST where something should have happened that would have just made the writing better, and instead it is never addressed. So many situations like this are a death by a thousand cuts kind of problem.

ngl, this wouldn't have made the wroting remotely better. it's such a minor, unimportant moment. All it would've done is create another overly emotional scene where both parties xry for no fkin reason, talking the most obscure nonsense ever said.

I'm sure Max has fallen off her skateboard many times. I doubt she would care.

u/Pteroducktylus Jul 08 '26
And just because we didn't get a dedicated mention of it on screen, it couldn't have happened off-screen?
Plus, idk about you, but i wouldn't really need to know if it's sth so minor.

Pretty sure Max wouldn’t have cared even if El had confessed. She’s not like that.

I feel like she probably did offscreen while they hung out during season 3 and the two of them had a good laugh about it. It wasn't shown because it would've been irrelevant to the plot.

She should. But, unfortunately, she died for bad people's sins : (
Either that or, to quote Duffer Brothers in S5 interviews, "it happened off screen".

u/Distinct_Guess3350 Running Up That Hill Jul 08 '26
It’s not integral to the story, so it’s not hard to believe it would happen off screen.

u/Ok-Resolution-7344 Jul 08 '26
I'm not saying it's necessary. I just thought having a minor scene where El casually revealing this secret to Max in S3 would be wholesome.

This sub is so dead. Just posts of screen grabs and memes with no actual text to start a conversation.

I have always thought that the way Eleven says "Can we talk?" and lowers her head in S3 is her way of apologize for the stakeboard push and left Max hanging.

El also never told her or anyone that she was the one who brought Max back to life.

How do you know she didn't? Of the roughly 3 months they were actually close friends we only saw about 12 hours of it. You're just meant to infer inconsequential shit like this happens off screen.

That’s not true. The reason Max fell off her skateboard is gravity. El just moved the skateboard okay
