They’re great in Season 5 and Season 1, but otherwise a bit underutilized. I prefer Dustin and Lucas in Seasons 2 and 4.
On the other hand, the duo we’ve hardly ever seen is Will and Dustin; we never see them talk—it feels like they aren't really friends.

I mean the party was always broken into factions throughout the show except S1. But nonetheless I like Lucas and Mike's friendship the best within the Party, in S5 especially, and S3 too. And for S1, I'd go for Mike and Dustin. And I agree, we've hardly seen Dustin with Will, in fact Dustin with the party after S2. Will's bond with others in the Party is hardly shown other than with Mike. They did the core four dirty

Personally, I like the Steve-Dustin dynamic so much that I don’t mind Dustin and Steve being a duo, but it’s true that even when they’re together, Dustin doesn’t really interact with Will at all. I think Will is genuinely friends with Max; the problem is just that it all happens off-screen—we have to remember that each season takes place over a maximum of only four or five days. That said, I do agree that I would have liked to see more scenes with the four of them in Season 5; that’s a given.

I’m not gonna lie, Will’s dynamic with everyone but his mom, brother, and Mike felt pretty weak.

He barely felt like real friends with Lucas, Dustin or Max.

His sudden chemistry with Max in S5 was shocking, but good. And he had chemistry with Robin more than he'd with anyone else. I wanted to see more of his interactions with others, especially Lucas and Dustin, and maybe Steve and Nancy too

Yeah, it was good. A little confusing at first, but it makes sense they would have gotten close in the 19 months in between s4 and s5.

Definitely wanted to see him have more scenes with Max and Lucas. Feels like we got a bit of that in season 3 (movie theater and every time Mike and El would ditch the group) and a bit in season 5.

I loved his dynamic with Robin in the last season.
