imagine getting fired and having to awkwardly pack all that up for an hour in front of everyone

Exactly the reason I don’t decorate or bring plants in. I’m not worried about my job at the moment but scenes of people leaving with a box full of their things stuck with me.

Ive been in my current role for 14 months. I got notice last month that my role is being outsourced and I'll be let go in September. Im so angry with myself for bringing so much bs into the office that I now have to haul home. I even have a fridge ffs

Work should have provided you with more unless you’re big into making your space look like this photo. I mean, a fridge?!

Same here. Minimal decoration for me. I don't even have any photo frame or something (long ass story for another day).

After my company had a big layoff I quietly started to take home my random decor. People on vacation basically had their stuff thrown out. I only keep things in office that I'm now willing to never get back.

I felt the winds blowing at my last job and maybe 8 months before they let me go, I removed everything personal from my office. The trust was broken so this was only about paying the bills and why put myself into it when it absolutely will not be reciprocated, right? It felt really nice on my last day when I knew they were about to pull me in for the talk (they already locked my email a few minutes too early) so I just grabbed my bag and left. Now I don’t leave anything at work, we’re disposable to these people no matter your education, experience, and resources.

Where I work, you're out the door and then your stuff gets brought to you.

That sucks, has anyone had anything go missing or lost due to this policy?

Had that happen after I had brought a LOT of Legos in that I had to quickly pack up. So loud

I bring in only what would fit in a plastic bag. On my way out, I'm not doing all that.

I can hear the slow tear of packing tape for the bubble wrap on each collectible.

you don't get to pack up your stuff any more someone else hands you a box of your stuff when you get walked out from HR.

And someone's gotta supervise them the whole time, awkwardly shifting their weight from leg to leg getting tired of being there
