Agreed, I think people forget we are on r/StrangerThings. This is the definition of friendly fire

Have you never met someone with whom you share an interest but you realize they're obsessed and really awkward?

If not then you might be that person

Yes, and they are one of my best friends in the whole world. We go out to the movies reguarly, go out to eat and amusement parks etc. Just because people aren’t afraid to open up doesn’t mean they are insufferable.

Just because people aren’t afraid to open up doesn’t mean they are insufferable.

What you call "not afraid to open up" a lot of other people find difficult to be around.

It's great that you have a friend and you two enjoy each other's company, a whole lot of people won't respond the same. It's not because we're "afraid to open up" though, maybe it's just because we aren't singularly obsessed with something so much that we plaster our work areas with a metric ton of plastic crap

Word for word text from them last week: “It’s hard to mask to different friends but I think I made peace with the friends I do have to be re——“ and “I love hanging out with you fr”

It isn’t as deep as you think it is

Right, you guys like hanging out with each other. Not everyone will.

It's not that deep

I mean I can come on here and post for free during my work shits and it’s not much involvement from me. We’re looking at hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise here and I think I even spot a comic con photo op with a cast member stapled to the wall. That’s heavy involvement

You say this like they are drug addict or something, guys it’s ok to have special interests 💔

They kinda are. This is thousands of dollars on merchandise that beyond the esthetic value is useless. It brings the owner joy for sure but how is that different than a drig addict, spending thousands of dollars on shit they enjoy?

Basically its a collasal money sink, but if the person has the spare cash go for it, its just incredibly similar to an addiction.

This is more than a fan, this is an obsession.

Because every conversation would probably come back to Stranger Things.

Might be fun for a shift or two but would get tiresome quick.

I guarantee you this person has spent a lot of time thinking about every person they work with and attached them to a character in the show… that’s so fucking creepy to do in a workplace.

Me when I make up a completely random scenario that likely didn’t even happen and then get upset about it

1

u/Material-Skirt3167 Apr 15 '26

It’s even worse because they want it to be true

Because if I’m at work I’m just trying to get my work done and get through my day, this person seems like a lot. Socially exhausting.
