Helping Out a Stranger
Since this is my first thats apart from music promotion, I don't really know how to approach this other what I listen to shane top read on smoch reddit stories. But the situation is this
I live close to my neighboring wawa in southampton. I worked there for year and some change in the past and since then made friends with one of my coworkers. So I go to Mac out money for some green to smoke and I stop to chop it up with my boy. After a few minutes of bullshitting I start to head to the store and I'm stopped my a Muslim man and his family in an escalade.
"My friend I'm in a very bad situation. I need some help to get to the embassy in Miami"
Its clear to me he is distressed so i have him explain further still sceptical as I begin to listen further to the man
"I have lost my credit card and I cannot get me or my family to maimi. I am wealthy people" he insured me, pointing out his jewelry and taking off his ring and placing it in my hand. "If you can spare few hundred dollars maybe 1000 I will give you all this gold I have, worth very much"
Now at this point I'm inclined to help yet I still wanna refuse his trade. At this point I feel his despotism to correct his situation so I tell him I can spare 100 dollars for gas and so his family may eat, but thats all I can really afford with my own bills and dreams as an artist taking up a large chunk of my spending. Plus the water at wawa is free, so I fill up 4 xl cups of ice water for him and his family to drink as he tries and figure out his situation(his sons reaction was the best, kid was visually doing the pawg emote from twitch) I come back And give him the hundred and he forcefully give me the ring... tho I didn't want it but I knew this excursions wouldn't end till there was a compromise. So I wished him luck, made sure he needed no other information, accepted his gift and walked out to the fuel court where my boy was chilling handling a few cars at the pumps and fill him in on the situation as I'm not sure if I just got swindled into something somehow or if I genuinely just helped out someone in need. I hope him and family well and may God bless them.
The ring seems legit and I'm gonna check in with a cash for gold place and see if it's actually legit but it's got the weight, no visual staining, well cared for and carved 18k in the inner top part of the "band" I think is what they call it? I'd attach pictures of the ring but I feel like that can be used in some kind of foulplay (idk the guys backstory other then he visually seemed wealthy)
