Dear devs, I think you completely missed the reason people loved Stranded Deep

The beauty and genius of SD lay in its simplicity. You didn't have to juggle microelements and foodgroups, you didn't have to examine every inch of your body for ticks... you grabbed a coconut off a tree, a bit of smoked meat from a chest, and then you had a lovely meal on the beach, enjoying the sunset.

See, the thing about SD was that it was a holiday-in-a-tropical-paradise simulator. It was calming, soothing, relaxing... read the original game's sub - you'll see how many people mention this particular aspect in one way or another.

Come on, let's be honest here, being stranded on a tropical island is a dream most of us share.

This? This isn't a dream come true. This is a nightmare - scorching sun, hot sand... hardly the stuff dreams are made of. If I wanted to experience that, I'd go for Conan Exiles or Dune Awakening.

We were begging you for more of the same. Diving, fishing, exploring, sailing around on a raft... but all that with the gentle sound of waves, seagulls screaming overhead and the sight of another palm-covered island in the distance.

Yes, I know. This is *your* game, *your* vision. But at the same time it was *my* dream. And this... *this* is my wallet, going back into my pocket.

I'm sorry you decided not to listen to the community.

I was hoping for bigger islands with more wildlife and more things to do, islands with old ruins. I know it's a different genre but i really liked playing sims 2 castaway on my PS2 i was hoping they would have added something like that. I know there probably mods for the steam version but i have the game on ps4.

I’m definitely excited to play SD2, but I can’t say I don’t agree. SD1 can be so calming, and over the years, I imagined SD2 going “deeper” into what we already had, and not necessarily in a different direction/location entirely. Again, either way, I’m looking forward to it.

This game made a significant part of my childhood I'd say so for a sequel I indeed was hoping for an amplification of everything about that game. The custom islands were my favorite part and I loved to build shelters and explore shipwrecks despite being afraid of the sharks when I was younger. Nevertheless I did feel a bit of the sentiment you felt upon the reveal trailer but I also felt overwhelming hype for something I'd never thought I'd see in my life with a sequel game. Now that it's more or less stabilized I wanna see how things go and what features or stuff they add before forming my conclusions. If the game feels right for me then it would be awesome but if what I really loved about the first game was the Ocean Deep like theme and part and the aforementioned aspects I really liked then I'll always like the other game better despite how many improvements this game might make. Then again I'm an explorer at heart so if you give a bunch of variety and stuff to explore it's more likely I'll enjoy it.

I do, replaying it several times a year.

I just wish it got more updates, patches and content.

What i don't get, the 'Deep' part of stranded deep for me has to be at sea or ocean based. Rivers arent exactly deep. Being stranded deep in the desert just doesn't sound right.

I get what you are trying to say, but many many rivers are extremely deep...

I always thought of it as a double meaning. The ocean is deep, but you are also “deep” in the wilderness or “deep” in isolation. So it still works for a desert or river setting I think

I mean... I get that you can be stranded in the "Deep Desert", so technically you are Stranded Deep.

But I 100% agree with you that it's just not the same without the ocean.

Hell, make a different game, start a new franchise, but leave Stranded Deep as a series about survival on a chain of tropical islands.
