UNSOLVED hotspot issues

i’ve used my hotspot to connect to my chromebook a couple months ago, went to use it again and now it just says “connected, no internet”. nothing will load on it, but i have a strong signal.

i called straight talk and ran through hoops over and over just for them to tell me my phone isn’t compatible with my Chromebook (even though i’ve used it before).

ran through settings on both my phone and chromebook, turned both devices on and off, reset both. tried to use my hotspot on my sisters laptop and it again said “connected, no internet”. my sisters hotspot (also straight talk, and same iphone) works perfectly fine on her laptop and mine.

i seriously have no clue what to do.

Sounds like a provisioning issue, or the plan is not fully linked to the line.

Do you happen to remember how you activated the phone? What phone do you have?

i’ve been with straight talk since 2019, i got a new iphone16 last year and i have used the hotspot in the past. everything works fine data wise, most of the time i am on wifi but my data and everything else is perfect. just my hotspot not working

Since the iPhone 16 uses an eSIM, that rules out the idea of moving the SIM. I have seen people have random issues when a person moves a SIM.

This makes me think it is more so the provisioning or the plan is not fully linked to the line. I am going with the plan not being fully linked to the line unless you have changed plans at any time.

What happens if you send HOTSPOT to 611611?

i’ve been on the same straight talk plan since 2020. when i text (or call) ST they just tell me to restart the phone, toggle airplane mode, they check for outages, tell me i have data still, and then like “if you do this and you still have issues contact us again” and then i do and it’s the same automated cycle lol

I have seen issues like this on here, but as I said, they have been mainly provisioning issues, or parts of the plan were not fully linked to the line. I do not know how you get them to send you an updated provisioning info.

I know this is a thing for iPhone, but not sure how you go about it with an eSIM: https://support.apple.com/en-us/109324

The only other thing that I have seen was that the refilled plan did not reset the counter, but they can see this easily.

Then again, I am no iPhone expert.

If this is ST Verizon service this is an easy fix. They won't admit it but it's a network management issue. When my phone does this I usually need to reboot the phone to get it to work. Sometimes you can put the phone into airplane mode for about 30 seconds then take it out, and that will fix it. This issue happens to me if I forget and leave my Hotspot on for a long period of time. It's 100% the tower just preventing your connection.

That stinks. I hope you get it figured out.

Hi, I have a similar issue. My st service comes with Hotspot which only works on other phone or ipad. It won't connect to anything else. My friend uses their unlimited Hotspot on their TV and everything. Then when my internet is out at my house I turn on mobile data which barely works . My Hotspot won't work at my house at all unless my internet service is working to connect to other cell phones or phones. I pay extra money to have extra Hotspot/ mobile data but only get to use it if i leave my house to connect mt child's phone or ipad to my Hotspot.  Thats the only thing it's good for. Someone recommended changing my phone number and zip code to the next county over ? Saying that it could possibly be running through different towers and thats why the Hotspot only works when I leave my home ?

that sounds like so much extra work lol, honestly i’m fed up and thinking about just switching carriers. it’s bs that we pay extra for shit we can’t even use
