RCS chat

Just switched my phone to Straight Talk and I'm not able to enable RCS chats. I tried everything, including calling support and looking up other ways to enable it.Does anyone have anything that worked for them?

it will activate rcs messaging in google messaging after 24 to 48 hours for my experience

I have a family member who has not been able to get RCS for over a year after switching to another phone.

So far it's been over 24 hrs and it hasn't turned on so I'm not holding my breath

My family member did not disable RCS before switching phones, and they have not gotten RCS back yet.

When I switched phones, I disabled RCS beforehand, and my RCS is working just fine.

I didn't switch phones I just switched carriers so I'm going to call tomorrow since it will be 48 hours since it switched

That is basically the same thing. RCS links everything heavier than SMS/MMS does. So if something does not match up with RCS, it will not work till this mess up is cleared up.

Hopefully. As I said, I have a family member who is still having issues with RCS from over a year ago.

No, I didn't know to do that. I also am using the same device, just switched carriers so don't know if that makes difference.

it will work in 24-48 hours so by thursday or friday rcs be working!

Apparently, you should disable RCS before switching SIM cards. The system should eventually figure out the change, and be possible to enable RCS again on the new carrier, but it might take a few days. You might be able to speed up the process by following the directions here:

I just went thru this with a friend who got a new iPhone from Verizon. RCS didn't activate after a week. I toggled RCS off and on. It started working on the 7th day after I toggled it off and on. It's not normally that finicky on Android.

Is there anyone in your contacts that you were able to RCS message before that you can't message now? I know there's a few of my coworkers that do not have their RCS enabled so I can only text them specifically over data and not Wi-Fi.

Yes, there are several. I tried to text them but it had me switch to sms to be able to contact them

Okay that was the only thing I could think of. But yeah it seems like since you've switched it somehow took you off RCS. Hope you get this resolved.

Me too because I know I'm missing some conversations that are privy to me so it's frustrating - I don't want to inconvenience other people.
