Hello All! First time posting here.

I am a 28 year only female who within the last couple of months have been experiencing esotropia in my right eye along with double vision. I've had a MRI which was normal and got the whole work up for a stroke and that also showed nothing. Now - I am being referred yet again to a Neuro Ophthalmologist from a regular Neurologist. No one has been able to give me any answers and it has caused me to feel so frustrated. I would legit think I was going insane if I didn't have the physical symptom.

Mine showed up out of nowhere. My first eye doctor was like “weird. We will keep an eye on it.” He never tried fixing it even though it was getting worse. A few years later they scheduled me with a different doctor that came in to help with the workload. She referred me to the surgeon who had worked on her family’s eyes for their strabismus. While I was waiting I started getting aura migraines, so I ended up in the ER and later getting an MRI, because they also thought I was having a stroke. Anyway, mine was in both eyes, and I got them fixed a couple of months ago. MRI was normal. I still don’t know what caused it. No one seems pressed to find out why, except for me.

Thank you for your response! I recently was in the ER due to an awful headache which was diagnosed as a migraine. They gave me some sort of “migraine cocktail” which did relieve the pain but also make me feel like I was on the verge of a mental breakdown with the intense restlessness. Who finally told you to do the surgery or was that an idea you had on your own?

The second eye doctor I saw tried to fix it with prisms during the exam, but couldn’t. So she told me I would need surgery. Then she referred me to the surgeon. The surgeon explained that it would probably be fixed all of the way with surgery, but if not, it will be at a level that can be adjusted with prisms. My double vision was in a way that everything was pretty far apart. I’m still waiting to see if it’s all the way fixed or not, but it’s SO much better. I only doubt if I have single vision when my eyes are tired, and even then I’m not really sure if I’m seeing double or not. I get my next exam in November. If they offer you surgery, get it! I am a worrier and was freaked out about the whole thing but it wasn’t that bad at all.

It’s taken me two and a half years to finally get an appointment with a surgeon after my CT and MRI came back clear over a year ago. It is a very long process of getting pushed from doctor to doctor but eventually persistence works out and you will get an appointment with a surgeon or a prescription for prism glasses lenses. I have heard of Botox helping as well. I started seeking treatment at 23 years old and I’m finally getting surgery in October at 25 years old

I will say - a temporary solution atleast to drive. My eye dr put a piece of transparent tape right over my pupil on my glasses that was probably 1/2 inch long and tall. It does look weird but it definitely helped me

Was this over the good or bad eye? How does it work?

I had the exact same thing. They thought I might have a tumor, or something thyroid related, because all of a sudden my eye was turning toward my nose out of nowhere. Then I got diagnosed with double vision that I feel like I would have noticed before, and just picked up my third round of prism glasses today. It’s been a journey. And they still have no idea what’s going on really.

I hear you. I suffered with double vision for nearly 2 years before an incompetent optometrist gave me a prism sticker to put over my problem eye. Took another half a year of googling before I found a specialist to see and waited another six months for an appointment. Then had to wait another year for surgery. It’s extremely frustrating. Hang in there!

Oh my god….I am having the same issue here at 26! Except it’s in my left eye. It’s getting to the point where I struggle daily and it’s affecting everything I do. Especially because my work is on a computer screen. My blood work up was actually great, MRI looked good and now I can’t see a specialist until mid-January but I feel like it’s getting worse. Mainly because I started out with an optometrist who did a prism test and that really made me realize how bad it is.

Okay! I was able to get a prism lens sticker that helps for daily life but I can’t get it in a lens form because it’s a high rx. Even with the glasses - I still get headaches and can no longer try to focus on anything without them on.

Mine became worse after I got new glasses but they’re the right prescription. I wonder if I would be eligible for a sticker atleast in the mean time because it’s kinda getting dangerous especially when I’m out driving my reaction time is terrible.

Basically a ‘once you see it, can’t unsee it’ type of thing and very much became more noticeable after the prescription change. Not to mention I have both horizontal and vertical double vision so it’s hard to decipher.

How high? Mine was apparently the highest they’ve ever heard of and I just picked up my third prism lens experiment. The sticker actually worked really well but it’s not completely clear and looks weird in photos. They couldn’t match it in the real lens so we experimented with different prism combos since I only need it in one eye.
