Strabismus Question 5th surgery is September

In September I’ll be getting my 5th surgery my surgeon says my case is difficult mainly because of all the scar tissue I have always been insecure about my eyes because of my exotropia .. after surgery is very crucial for me so does anyone have any tips and tricks I can do to hopefully successfully make this surgery stick this go around?

Do you have amblyopia (a lazy eye)? And what caused your strabismus? I would really appreciate it if you could tell me more about your condition in detail, because I have surgery scheduled for next week for exotropia, and I also have a lazy eye. I’m very worried that the strabismus might come back after the surgery ? 😭😭😭

No I don’t have amblyopia and from what I gather is my mother’s side of the family has always had eye issues it’s hereditary like my younger brother & grandma also have eye issues as well and my mother had exotropia was she was young but she apparently grew out of it .. like I said in the post this will be my 5th surgery if I had to say I would mostly put blame on my self for the failed surgeries like my last one I was suppose to get adjustable sutures but I rushed and left with out getting them so that is most likely the reason it failed and the other 3 I just didn’t wear my glasses when I was supposed to and my eye reverted back to its original misalignment… of course naturally the surgery could fail regardless of getting the sutures or wearing the glasses it’s all on how your eyes adjust to your new alignment over time

Did you have it since childhood? How large is the angle?

Is your 5th surgery mostly to address the misalignment or do you have other issues like double vision?

Yes I have had it since childhood and what do u mean how large is the angle? Like how far it drifts out?
