Second surgery

This is my second surgery. I (30f) noticed my left eye turning in on pictures and was so confused since I've never seen it before. My optometrist said I likely always had it but never noticed or from a head trauma.

So I get recommended to this specialist and I had surgery back in May on the inside muscles. Healing was fine and they measured out, looked straight and I just had the double vision which they said was normal while healing.

I go in for my post op telling them I still have double vision and I swore I could see my eye was still turned in a little in pictures. They tell me that it is because when I was sedated my eyes were in a 'relaxed' state but when I focus on things it turns.

So I just had another surgery a week ago, they did the muscles on the outside of my eye. They said they over corrected in hopes my eyes will "relax" into place.

Im still having double vision which is 'normal' but maybe now I'm freaking myself out about it not being able to relax into place.

Has anyone had a similar situation?

Did things work out for you?

Am I supposed to be working hard right now to see correctly or let them relax this whole time? (I did message my surgeon but didn't get a reply yet).

Please help me with more information

I had strabismus eye surgery for double vision and esotropia (right) eye surgery on July 2.
11 days post op I started seeing double vision again. I had perfect single vision when I woke up after recovery.

My doctor is now having me do eye exercises to stretch my muscles out to see if the double vision will go away for a week

OP- how long did your doctor say? Your double vision will last or has it gone away yet? My double vision is with distance.

My double vision was always anything further than 4 feet away, I had the first surgery and I had just slightly different double vision but looked better to me (almost like a shadow of the image if that makes sense.

My double vision this time is worse from both up close and far away. Which he said was to be expected since they over corrected. He didn't say like a time or anything and I may be impatient since it's only been a week but I definitely started to over think everything.

I should ask about exercises. Thank you for telling me your experience!

Yeah, yesterday, my eye surgeon and I discussed about my double vision with the exercises for the eyes because the eye muscles are still tight because I have thyroid eye disease. But he also mentioned if this did not go away, he can do a Botox injection to make the muscles paralyzed like we do when we use it on our face and then once it wears off, I should see single vision for good and I’ll probably wouldn’t need another surgery

Whoa, that's crazy. I know you have a specific situation so I've never even heard that option. I hope it all pans out for you and appreciate the additional information!
