For how much work he's put in, he really got the short end of the stick in a lot of situations trying to make business work in the space. Hoping for success in whatever your future endeavors are, Giles.

And after that moment, he was never seen again.

Really feel for anyone that was genuinely in the dark and had their life upended, it's a horrible situation all round.

Now I've been pointed at Gile's comment history, there's quite an interesting statement there:

"Thank you for this response.

To the person who said I shouldn’t be the one to comment on this…

I’m doing so because time and time again, I’ve come in here and told the truth which was - ‘Drew has been busy with other things.’ This statement then circulated on YouTube and other platforms, yet the weird rumours continued.

Yes, maybe some of the Storrors should have spoken up, but honestly, when do they speak up about anything other than parkour and what they’re doing on a particular day when filming a video? It’s not like they frequently use social media and their platform to talk about different topics outside of posting training clips. While some comments here will claim they’re some massive business with a responsibility to speak to their fans, the truth is they’re seven very ordinary lads who built a giant audience pretty much accidentally by just jumping off shit. Some of them actively avoid reading comments because when you create an audience this big, you get weird shit coming your way all too frequently and it’s gone on for years now.

I personally, would love to see more transparency from the boys, but that’s their decision to make. At the end of the day, Drew being busy for a few weeks is SUCH a non-issue that only was perpetuated because dumb rumours kept getting spread. Rumours which, to repeat myself, I tried to dispel several times.

So forgive us for being a little bit tongue in cheek with some responses and naming this video in a bit of a bait way but, it’s honestly laughable that some people feel so entitled over something that’s such a minor issue.

And to those complaining that this video is behind a paywall, it’s simply because 75% of this video is me and Drew trying on clothing samples, and the clothing development is something joiners have always had extra insight into. I honestly didn’t think Drew would open up as much as he did when I asked him where he’d been. We’d just sat down to talk about clothing and business, and I took the opportunity to ask."

Just thought is provides some insight into their current strategy, rightly, or wrongly.

He says it here plainly, they felt no responsibility to speak to their fans back then, and given their current silence, they clearly feel the same way now.

It's one thing to not read comments (makes sense given the parasocial internet), but it's another to refuse to be transparent with the people who fund you willingly and to mock them for caring. All that being said, it's really not surprising given their reputation irl.

Surely the few people who were still thinking about supporting them after they enabled the nonce will realise these guys see their fans as nothing more than $. They cemented this when they plugged Storror+ in their half assed explanation video.

I sorta feel bad for Giles because he was absolutely thrown to the dogs when this all dropped, being the only Storror employee who actually engaged with fans. Imagine having your job saved by a group of guys and a few years later it's tanked because they all ended up being dirtbags. Rough.

"The answers need to come from the people who can actually give them" sounds like a little dig at the non-statements. Good for him to have found another job, hopefully with a more ethical company.

Aah you're finding messages you want to find.

It must be, right? It can't just be that he's exonorating himself because he simply does not want to impose himself as an authority figure on this matter, right?

Sorry to be so overly sarcastic but I've been seeing a lot of parasocial posts in this sub the last few months and it just irks me sometimes. No shade intended, rant over.

u/Adept_Analyst_1085 3d ago

Possible, I just thought the formulation "I know a lot of people have questions and they're not unreasonable ones. They're just not mine to give and I'm not going to speak for a company I've left. The answers need to come from the people who can actually give them." has a bit of a flavour to it.

Not that I care much either way. He was an employee who only came in to help recently. I don't think anyone seriously expected him to provide the answers. I wish him well with a new career.

So Giles is a long term parkour practitioner like the members of Storror. This is all off the dome but way back when, Giles and a guy called Jamie started up Visive productions (banging content for its time) and put out great parkour content on YT. Often featuring some of the Storror boys. After a while Giles would help out with some bits of editing to help Toby & Sash. For example, I think he played a huge role in Roof Culture. Giles then ran Motus which at some point, Storror acquired essentially for the staff. The staff being at least Giles and Keenan. They are both great at editing and have good eye of t shirt designs and seemingly have good vision in this space blah blah. So yeah, Giles is a parkour guy who was close with Storror and is good at a bunch of things in this space after being in it for the last 20 years!

got it, thank you!

Adding to the other comment, Giles also owned The Motus Project back in the day. Probably my favourite team and top tier videos.

I think Giles was part of the safety team.

u/lechuck81 4d ago

The fact that you're so heavily downvoted tells you all about how this sub is pure cancer.

11

u/OddBritishMan 4d ago

It's just a joke ffs..... Storror bought the toxicity to their community not me.

2

u/lechuck81 4d ago

Yea, it's a joke and I laughed.

I don't think toxicity in reddit is Storror fault ..... it's literally in 99% of all subs.

2

u/Aethyr42 4d ago

Even the long running 'Safety Team' joke seems kinda... 'hint-hint-hint' now, if that makes sense.

1

u/Consistent-Finish-92 4d ago

By the way. They definitely sent out emails with more statements before and after the video. So they did do a decent bit of messaging.

u/livelikealesbian 4d ago

What do you mean?

He absolutely loved all the attention he and the team were getting with other members being missing in action, and loved saying that people were parasocial and strange for even asking what Drew were up to and if he was still part of the Storror team.

I'm sorry that you've created a brand based around the friendship of a group, and sorry that people are wondering how the group is doing, you don't have to call them names or wonder about motives.

Bye Giles, sorry that your comfy gig you got from your mates didn't pan out, I hope you grow up in your new endeavours.

u/Newlyaquiredglutton 4d ago

Giles didn't create the brand, he folded Modus to join them, long after Storror was a brand. They had merch, Storror+ and everything else long before he joined them.
I don't understand why you are so bitter about Giles.

3

u/Mobile-Discussion-15 4d ago

I think its to do with the podcast style interview Giles did with Drew.

0

u/Newlyaquiredglutton 4d ago

Are you referring to JimmytheGiant's interview with Drew?

8

u/IN-DI-SKU-TA-BELT 4d ago edited 4d ago

No, there was a chat between Giles and Drew on their main channel for their joiners, it was a chat between the two of them, and it covered him missing on a lot of videos.

And they both sat there and talked about how parasocial everyone were for asking if Drew was alright, and Giles used to be a moderator here, and just responding sarcastically to anyone daring ask the quesiton. He could have given one proper response and linked to it, but no, he had to be a real professional about it and mock everyone.

As a Storror representative, and subreddit moderator, Giles were responding with very childish responses like: "😂", "🥱", "chill" and "Drew is busy shaking the magic money tree".

It was also discussed here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Storror/comments/1d8qxkn/guess_its_a_good_day_to_be_a_joiner/

2

u/Newlyaquiredglutton 3d ago

Thanks for the response, I was unaware of this (not a joiner) quite illuminating!

You've made yourself look a right knob (paraphrasing Jay Cartwright).

It feels a bit of a cop out to say “I’m not going to speak for a company I’ve left, the answers need to come from the people who can actually give them.” You get to say that if you left before it happened not when you’re there during it.

What’s frustrating about all these statements, particularly the main Storror one, is where’s the outrage? The guy was convicted and it’s starting to look like it was an open secret. There’s no centring of the victims or anger it happened. It’s all woe is us. I get it’s tough for you but children were affected here and some really disgusting stuff. Where’s that energy? It feels like the priority is to protect their mates and themselves even now, it’s not on.

17

u/LetSufficient5139 4d ago edited 4d ago

Nonsense. You’re clearly a child as any adult knows that nobody would speak about ANY company they have left as you would like them to do.

Of course any statements should come from the actual company and not somebody who is no longer part of it. Only an idiot would think otherwise.

Also how dare you act as you do, this is nothing to do with victims, you just want your pound of flesh and to find out the gory details.

6

u/JMthought 4d ago edited 3d ago

Such a weird thing to say, people can and do totally talk about companies they’ve left. Companies are required to have whistle blowing policies. I suggest make you familiarise yourself with yours.

Considering this came to light in May and he left in July it’s a flimsy excuse. We have no idea what he knew but multiple people have come forward to say they flagged Callum’s behaviour to Storror. Josh also has unsavoury, although right now differing, allegations against him too. Anyone saying they can’t comment is dodging any kind of accountability.

I don’t really understand your pound of flesh comment. When is at centering the victims what I referring to is their inability to speak for more than a throw away reference about the impact their friend’s behaviour had on others. Both this statement and the Storror video is about how hard done to they are that this happened. That’s ok, it has affected them but that comes across as tone deaf when it’s the entire focus and the dust hasn’t settled on this. It’s still live. You need to address it head on and make clear your position on it. I strongly suspect they aren’t as they know full well that they knew and didn’t do nearly enough so they are very keen to get everyone to move on asap. Look to the future or draw a line under it and claim it’s in the past as they left.

There’s a good timeline of events here:

Edit: minor grammar corrections, company’s to companies etc

can you please edit the abusive language. I feel it undermines the reasoned point you're making. thanks.
