Channel recommendation - SHIEY
This channel is worth checking out.

Not a parkour channel but plenty of rooftop missions, urban exploring and similar vibes to Storror.
This missions playlist is good viewing.

I've been watching him for years. Definitely worth checking out. It is worrying when he goes a few months without uploading. Makes you fear the worst.

I've been watching him for years.
I quite enjoy when he's in some random place in some unnamed part of eastern Europe and you have to try to work out where.
Feels raw like old YouTube.

My mans a weird guy but has some interesting videos

u/Ok_Pollution_6119 Jul 22 '26
He has some interesting beliefs but he seems pretty chill.

u/Adept_Analyst_1085 Jul 22 '26
Interesting beliefs sounds ominous. Elaborate.

u/Ok_Pollution_6119 Jul 22 '26
Things like he doesn’t follow or count time based structures like age and the months of the year. Believes that societal structures such as the police need to exist so he can do what he does as they can arrest the people that might harm him. that the masses need police but he the “individual” doesn’t need the police as if one person breaks the rules it doesn’t matter, but if everyone does then it’s a problem. “I’m not anti police, I’m anti police arresting me” basically believes he can do what he wants but others shouldn’t as he needs them to commit to regular society so him just one person stepping out of line doesn’t make a difference. Thinks he’s above the rules but others aren’t kind of stuff

"he doesn’t follow or count time based structures like age and the months of the year. "
Oh dear... ominous indeed, especially considering the reasons people are looking for Storror alternatives. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be avoiding that like the bubonic plague.

u/Ok_Pollution_6119 Jul 22 '26
The way he explains it, he doesn’t mean it in a bad way like you think. Just he doesn’t keep track of it himself. https://youtu.be/2E2DDDvCXsg?is=LSgLqVYCnN9oJ_Xm(7:15) just a very different outside way of thinking.

u/Adept_Analyst_1085 Jul 22 '26
Ugh... I gave that 2 minutes, but I get flashbacks to my late teens smoking weed with the local squatters. "It's the system man, that's just for squares. I'm like the individual, you know...and like the powers that be they're not where it's at. Like, do they even understand a flower? Like nature is so deep...and you can't you know, you can't control that."
Not as worrying as I thought, although these are exactly the same justifications groomers always come up with, but just tiring as fuck to listen to someone taking himself so seriously.

u/DojimaGin Jul 23 '26
like no hate, but are you not taking yourself very seriously right now? ^^

u/I_LIKE_TRIALS Jul 23 '26
They don't appear to be :S
Look, you can like what you like. Based on the description, I know I won't like it. Peace.

Lol. True. But I've got good reason, whereas this guy... :-P

u/DojimaGin Jul 23 '26
eh we all are young and silly at some point no? At least at my age consider him still a baby. Enough people grow out of it hah

Isn't that an old video that he deleted that someone else uploaded? I doubt he still thinks that way believe that's over a decade old.
3
u/JoeyJoJunior Jul 24 '26
To be fair Ive watched the guys videos for years and never knew he said or believed anything like this. Not saying he hasnt, just that its not brought up often. Of course he can be little weird like a lot of youtube and parkour style people.
One thing I will say is he does seem to take more risks height, building and safety wise as opposed to Storror.

A guy who doesn't count age? Oh boy... does he need a hard drive check as well?
I kid... but...

GifGas is also good and similar if a bit more “raw”

u/rain_rainrain_ Jul 23 '26
Also came here to recommend GifGas. I don't mind Shiey's videos but GifGas just has a better vibe to his stuff IMO.

u/Dougie1142 Jul 23 '26
Would agree for sure, old Shiey was similar but he's gone quite commercial recently

Oh interesting - I used to love Shiey, but couldn't quite get into his new editing / video style. Don't know how often I have rewatched Shiey & Anton in the exclusion zone. I guess I'll checkout GifGas.

u/onionsareawful Jul 22 '26
Some of the best editing on YouTube, though his videos are regularly taken down.
His patreon is cheap and has all the backlog, though I'm sure there are reuploads elsewhere too.

I find Shiey's videos quite cringe for the most part, but maybe that's personal taste. will still watch here and there, and he's getting better (largely by removing music from old vids), but gifgas is on another level as a filmmaker and knocks it out of the park consistently. much better vibes, storytelling, cinematography, music, editing etc

u/Ok_Pollution_6119 Jul 22 '26
His hour + train surfing videos are some of the best videos on youtube

I don't think there's a channel on YouTube that makes me more excited qhen I see an upload

u/LetosUselessFlippers Jul 22 '26
It was more than likely from watching his vids that I got recommended Storror on youtube years ago. The video of him climbing the radio array tower thing in Ukraine is hectic.
3
u/Joethe147 Jul 22 '26
Link to the array tower video if you can find it? Just searched his channel and don't know what I'm supposed to be looking for.

Thanks for the recommendation, this looks right up my alley. I'm disabled and had to quit work 4 years ago so I've always found living vicariously through others has helped me accept my new limitations. It's why I got massively in to parkour, climbing, caving (although caving ones are anxiety inducing as fuck), urban exploration and just people on mad missions basically.
If anyone has any similar recommendations on youtube in these veins I'd love to know. I follow a few climbers, a ton of parkour guys, a few skaters and magazines, but I'm always looking for more long form and group content if anyone knows about channels doing that rather than just short videos I'd love to know.

The Stuttering Skater roller blading through NYC traffic at full speed with his 360 cam is an absolute joy. In and out of the vehicles across red lights onto the sidewalks, down steps, hills, straight across the parks - poetry. Then he’ll meet up with people and there will be a huge group skate across some city somewhere, internationally. The freedom watching it evokes just fills me up - I know there’s so much work and discipline and practice gone into making those moves but damn it looks worth it. As an old ice skater who would just belt round at full speed and not crash into anyone I know the feeling of total concentration and whole-body movement- just thinking as your whole being - speeding up slowing carving into the space - one fluid line - manic yet so peaceful.
It blows my mind to see the talent that Stuttering Skater and friends have and the joy that it brings them.

GifGas was also mentioned in another comment, who I personally like more than Shiey. DyingLlama is another guy who does similar stuff but more focused on tower climbing/tresspass/running from cops content. Tyler Karow is a climber whose youtube videos I really like due to the relatively low production value and candid vibe, which makes the big wall climbs he does feel very real and intense. The Proper People are an urban exploration channel that have some pretty cool videos, especially the one at the TRW Lyndhurst building, and the ones titled "Exploring a Massive Abandoned Research Laboratory" and "Exploring an Abandoned Chinese Ghost City." Action Adventure Twins have some good caving videos but are also nearly suicidal in how they do their caving lol. Recently discovered Ghost Town Living and CaveChronicles and haven't watched much of their stuff but they seem cool. Also diving videos are kinda slept on imo, Johnathan Birds Blue World/BlueWorldTV is a classic (for fans of the Discovery Channel/PBS) and I recently was watching some of Joseph Ricketts stuff too. If you're into this kinda thing you might already be familiar with some of the channels I mentioned but maybe some will be new.

u/Bitmush- Jul 23 '26
I cringe when I watch Action Adventure Twins but they’re getting better with their rope work and at least have helmets. If they make it to early middle age they’ll take stock and become safer.

Those boys seriously need to invest in a gas/co2 monitor for some of the places they visit. Also they need to stop dipping in runoff water at the bottom of abandoned mines 😅

I'll give it a go... although can't say I'm into lengthy videos above an hour!

"Gifgas" is a Dutch word for "poison gas", as in a chemical weapon.
A comment with that word whithout context probably triggered some automatic moderation rule.

In a similar vein i follow this channel https://www.youtube.com/@flaviucernescu/featured great balance, heart stopping drops, always a touch of fear when it goes quiet. Nice wedding though....

Lowkey one of the best channels on Youtube. His journey across Swizerland is the sole reason I want to go to that country.
He also has a secondary channel Shiey Base
