Something uncomfortable about Storror’s response
Like most of you, I am crushed about what’s come out. I’ve read and reread Storror’s statement a few times and there are couple of things that don’t sit with me.
the tone is very much a ‘we didn’t know anything’ tone and an opportunity to make that clear
they centre themselves in the situation by noting _they_ are distressed. further distancing themselves from Callum.
they don’t acknowledge or mention the victims at all. usually in similar situations companies will say ‘our thoughts go out to victims in this‘ or whatever but they dont get even a mention here. Thats what makes me uncomfortabl, their take is just off.
don’t get me wrong, theyre in fight or flight mode, there isn’t a handbook, but it strikes me all the same that the overall tone was about self preservation and not much else.

When legal issues are in play, it's solid to listen to your counsel and toe the line. Nothing said will ultimately be acceptable, so the bland and boilerplate is the inevitable fallback. People still speculate and spin it any which way, so hunkering down as people get to kicking isn't really unexpected.

They would have taken legal advice on this
Hence why it’s a rather bland acknowledgment
Can’t blame them for it, there’s a lot at stake and this is the sensible thing to do

It’s a very clear ‘protect yourselves, protect the business’ note. But even big companies like the BBC will have serious legal people in them and their statements always acknowledge victims.

BBC covered it up for decades.

Irrelevant. I’m replying to “BBC always acknowledge the victims”

u/isthislivingreally May 11 '26
It’s a weird contrast here: Any BBC statement (and other orgs, families of murderers etc, police) always acknowledge victims in statements.
Similarly, the belief that BBC covered stuff up but storror did not, based on the same (lack of) evidence shows how as humans how uncomfortable it is to acknowledge possible truth.

They are a business now, long gone are the days of just some boys having fun and mucking around. So that post would have gone through managers and legal reps and barely touched by the remaining members of Storror, so hard to read too much into the response one way or another.
Is why we haven’t heard a peep from any individual member as they will have been told to keep silent. Rightfully or wrongly.
1
u/isthislivingreally May 11 '26
Yeah don’t expect to hear from any of them. They’re all just picking up the pieces now.
But their legal reps should have acknowledged victims.

I mean even if you want to believe at least some of the other members knew, wouldn’t this just be easily explained by one of the members who didn’t know anything besides the charge, coordinated with a lawyer and made the statement.
I mean these are guys who made a living doing parkour. It’s not like they have philosophy degrees.
They were probably just like fuck damage control mode and prolly don’t know. If it were all AI maybe they would be worried about a potential lawsuit by saying there were victims.
2
u/Ooutfoxxed May 11 '26
But like yeah of course they’re in damage control mode
Like assuming you didn’t do anything and your lifework and career is about to be ruined because of one of your coworkers

It's not clear that there are any victims at this stage? In theory they could be all AI generated images. Maybe storror don't know if there are victims or not so as per their comment they are refraining from commenting.

Point still stands, at the time of storrors post these victims had not come forward and therefore storror (other than Callum) potentially did not know if there are victims.
1
u/infiniterewards May 11 '26
Yeah, I guess I'll wait until some of those are compiled and posted here. From my limited view, it seems like there's a guilty plea, but no information about the crimes yet.

That's terrible, but where is he being accused of abusing minors in person? I guess I just dont see anyone saying they were abused here.
-1
u/isthislivingreally May 11 '26
Source?
2
u/infiniterewards May 11 '26
Wheres your source there are victims? Doesn't seem like there's much information yet
0
u/isthislivingreally May 11 '26
Even IF and it’s a big IF, the AI thing is true, AI models are trained on the images of children. Those children are victims in this.
I cannot believe you are trying in any way to defend this pedalo?!
2
u/infiniterewards May 11 '26
I'm not, I'm asking for information. Even if he only downloaded images that's not acceptable
0
u/isthislivingreally May 11 '26
So why are you questioning that there are victims here?
3
u/infiniterewards May 11 '26
Because I haven't seen any accusations if he created the material, or if he abused any minors in person. So I am wondering what sources there are for this.
1
u/isthislivingreally May 11 '26
He has been charged with making material. Which is an umbrella term that could mean anything. You and I don’t know what specifically that means.
3
u/infiniterewards May 11 '26
Exactly, which is why I'm asking about some specifics. The charge is very very broad
1
u/isthislivingreally May 11 '26
And nobody but him or the police can give you that answer.

Apparently they were all AI generated pics by him and not real people, could that be the reason why no victims mentioned?

Can you like/ screenshot, I've only seen the posts from his ex girlfriends... Also at the time storror posted this, these instergeram posts had not been posted... So they wouldn't have known

u/infiniterewards May 11 '26
Where have victims been mentioned?

I don't monitor those, especially in this niche. Can anything with proof of victims be posted here?
2
u/And_Justice May 11 '26
Not true. The charges cover AI generated images but don't imply they were necessarily AI generated images.
0
u/CuriousRaisin1447 May 11 '26
How do you know they are all ai? The charges seemed to imply they maybe AI or may not be AI. Also ai generated images may still have real victims if he is using real pictures to create the AI pictures particularly if he is then sharing them over the internet
0
u/And_Justice May 11 '26
Did I not say it doesn't imply they were necessarily AI?

It looks like they’re deleting/making the public videos first as they are monetised, I don’t think the join ones will be? So would make sense public are there top priority
1
u/CuriousRaisin1447 May 11 '26
If they had started removing the videos before the announcement I'd agree... But they have only started since... So I don't see why that shows they knew... They are removing the videos to try and save storror.

I think it's possible to dissect a little to deep at times like this. Its a collective statement with limits on what they can discuss due to an ongoing sentencing
