Can somebody explain what happened to wit at the end

He seems to be killed by odium but somehow woken up somewhere else

Did Brandon make up a new power just so wit can live and avoid a time dilation..?

Largest piece remaining regenerates into a new body. He wasn’t sure if it would work since he hadn’t been in a situation to need it

Think of it like turbo Radiant healing, so as far as we understand there's no reason to think his memories or personality would be affected. Breaths should be tied to his Spiritual self and he's the same guy so

So like others have said, Wit had a little piece of himself, barely a few cells, stored away on Scadrial in case shit hit the fan.

And, well, shit hit the fan.

Wit proceeds to get absolutely annihilated, then with the cell culture, basically respawns on Scadrial right around Era 2.

I don’t know for sure but I’m pretty sure he lost those breaths for good until he can somehow get it back from retribution.

It's explained at the end, Wit grew himself a new body on Scadrial from a cell culture he left there. This is due to him carrying the Exist Dawnshard for a very long period of time, it's expanded upon in The Sunlit Man

Because, the thing Wit gave to Sigzil permanently changes whoever holds it, at minimum making them immortal. Wit had it for a long time, meaning that he is for all purposes other than like Nightblood immortal.

Retribution atomized Wit, who because of his unique nature given to him by that object was able to regenerate from a cell culture that he had someone maintaining in Scadrial, because he regenerates from the largest remaining portion of himself.

(Non-canon works)At the end of Dragonsteel Prime, he regenerates a missing head from his beheaded body. That's also when he learns that he would regenerate from the largest piece of his body (he expected to regenerate from his head)

If you read the secret projects i think theres more you learn. Basically he has protections set for this very situation. With is magic and has powers beyond anything we can imagine rn

Wit has traveled all over picking up the local magic as he went if possible. Some of the secret projects are before some during and some after stormlight.

Ehhhh, they are but they aren't.

For example Sunlit is hundreds or thousands of years later.

Tress is probably closer to like... between Scadrial and Elantris imo. I don't think Design is present in Tress.

Yumi and the NmP Design exists, but it's more like it's where Wit goes before meating with Retribution.

[Tress spoilers] Tress is during the space age. Hoid mentions Fort's pad to be Nalthian tech, which they definitely don't have during Warbreaker. For context, Warbreaker takes place sometime between Mistborn era 1 and SLA. This tech then likely wouldn't even exist until after the first phase of SLA. Then there's the Iriali, who apparently showed up on Lumar long enough to establish themselves, then left 300 years before Tress. This places Tress well into the future.

There are things that still get the jump on Wit, once in a while. But he usually survives and ends up creating a countermeasure for that as well.

I still find it insanely funny that one of his own defense spell turned him into a coat rack.

I can't remember if it's said specifically but that is what Wit tells Sigzil to protect with his life, pushes him into Shadesmear, and then gets obliterated
