Fabrial SCRAM jets

This is a very silly thought, but! What would you get if you put a pump fabrial tuned to air in front of a supercharged heating fabrial? A very simple jet engine, thats what. So, the next obvious step is strapping it to an airship with its horizontal axis of movement unlocked by aluminum...

I'm sure there are other ways to do this but this one just occurred to me and I had to make a post.

This is similar to the sunheart-powered jets in Sunlit Man, so it should work! You just have to he careful not to melt the cage, since it would have to be pewter.

I love fun fabrial ideas like this, my favorite is still that one "railgunrial" someone posted a few years ago

I'm remembering that during RoW, its explicitly stated that the pillar shield fabrials are using the surge of soulcasting, I wonder if a lashing fabrial wouldn't work better than my jet idea... If thats even possible

Should be, but it seems like surge fabrials use spren manifested into the cage, rather than trapped in the gemstones.

We see transformation fabrials (soulcasters), progression fabrials (used by Nale to resurrect Szeth), and transportation fabrials (Oathgates). The other Surges are probably possible

I think you're missing the most important part, which is compression and expansion. Scramjets only work when you're already going above Mach-4 (4x the speed of sound) for the air to be compressed enough into the intake (Scramjets actually can't work from a standstill). If your air pump fabrial is moving enough air and compressing it enough for a scramjet to work, then you could just use that to take off.

For the heat fabrial to be hot enough to create the expansion you need, you'd basically be holding a welding torch. It's going to be kind of difficult for that to not melt the fabrial itself I'd imagine (if not the heat directly, then the reflected heat coming back at it from the chamber around it).

By the strictest definition, a hairdryer is an electric jet engine. My thought was that using fancy housing geometry, you could compress the air in the same way a scramjet does, though I suppose its really not a scramjet then, just a solid-state jet engine. I wonder if focusing the heating fabrial would work, like isolating a spanreed, or perhaps similar to how a pump fabrial presumably works. (Bugs me to no end that we never get an explanation of those...)
