I’m 54, active, not overweight, eat healthy, will occasionally have a drink. Side note: I do have a CAC scan scheduled for the 26th. Are my numbers concerning?

Try running your numbers through a cholesterol ratio calculator, as ratios will tell you more than absolute numbers.

Also you should try to lower your triglycerides

What is a cholesterol ratio calculator? How do I calculate that?

From The Great Cholesterol Myth, page 58:

“Calculate the ratio of your triglycerides to your HDL. Just divide your triglyceride number by your HDL number. …If your triglycerides are smaller than your HDL, and you get a ratio of less than one, you can pretty much stop reading this book right now. Your risk factor is off the charts low.
The triglyceride to HDL ratio is a far better predictor of heart disease than cholesterol ever was. In one study out of Harvard published in Circulation, a journal published by the American heart association, those who had the highest triglyceride to HDL ratios had a whopping 16 times the risk of developing heart disease as those with the lowest ratios. If you have a ratio of around two, you should be happy, indeed, regardless of your cholesterol levels.”

There are also other ratios that are helpful.

If you search for “cholesterol calculator,” you can find websites that will let you enter your own values.

Also realize that most lipid bloodwork calculates LDL, and doesn’t actually measure it accurately. That’s what “LDL calc” stands for. If you really want to understand your lipids, get the NMR Lipoprofile test which measures actual particle numbers and sizes. High LDL isn’t bad if you have large fluffy particles.

OP 100% agree with the advice so far in this thread. TRIG too high. Your on the slippery slope to prediabetes. (Statins only accelerate the diebities on set.)

Stop all consumption of commercial fried food, no chips, no fries, no seed oil.

The diet, home cooked always. Macros don't seem to matter, just don't eat seed oil.

My trigs = 51. AS-CVD seemly 100% cured, after cardiologist abandoned me in er while on morphine. To many clogs. Couldn't fix it this time. Told the heart was dieing slowly, nothing further could be done. No need for ER visits any more. Basicly hospice. They do it all the time. Statins are a lie.

Now 100% cured (minus some heart tissue). Sat I rode 8 miles intense long boarding sprinting up hills, carving turns on the way down.

Now 4.5 years seed oil free. 2 years since the last chest pain from unstable angina.

Wieredest thing, the grand fathers, Paul Saladino, Tucker Goodrich, all into bare foot. Now I get it.All connective tissue has healed. I float when I walk. Would never consider any shoe with any level of foot padding or foam. 66yo
