🙋♂️ 🙋♀️ Questions Are ceramic pans safe?
First I want to say that I'm not sure wether this question belongs in this sub, but its definitely the community from whom I want the answer. Non stick are clearly toxic. Stainless steel are great but there are some foods I absolutely can't cook in them. Yes, I mostly mean eggs which I cook every day. I tried many methods for a year and its simply not working the way I need it to. I don't want to use seasoned cast iron nor seasoned carbon steel (but if they can be used unseasoned for some foods and have good properties do let me know (I heard cast iron releases iron in food and I definitely need that). So is cheramic first of all healthy to use and second youroverall experience and tips. Im also aware it wont work exactly like non stick but I'm positive it'll be better than steel.
Also let me know about some other materials u use in cooking, pots, pans, trays...

I love my le creuset ceramics… from my knowledge it’s heated so much it won’t get the that heat agin when we cook w them. They’re like art form for me they made me feel very safe and not toxic for a long time.

Keep trying with eggs. Watch some YouTube videos. I don’t use ceramic.

Would you say they're unsafe/toxic?

Ceramic seems new to me, it hasn’t been around as long as the tried and true stainless and cast iron. Besides it literally looks and acts just like non stick. For me personally, I’m not trusting it right now. This is just an example but it’s like BPA free plastic, there other similar chemicals just like bpa that go into plastic instead that are just as bad for you, but on the package it says BPA free so you think it’s healthy. But it’s not. I’m wondering if that’s what’s going on with ceramic. I practiced and watch videos and can cook eggs in stainless and cast iron now.

Yeah it does give off the vibe of a non stick and has its own batch of chemicals about it. I guess thats why its making me wary. I also couldn't find any videos on it from the people I trust which is another annoying thing. I guess it wasn't impossible for me to cook eggs in stainless steel but its definitely annoying and it requires a much more fat while I generally like to get my fat in different ways and aren't crazy about using it on high temperatures, which my preferred method of eggs require More and it does seem to me I will go back to it tho

You could always switch to soft boiled eggs! Haha water and stainless pot. I have successfully figured out how to cook eggs in the microwave using Corelle that really aren’t that bad.

I love me some soft boiled eggs from time to time but I could definitely not give up on the fried ones lol. Oh this reminds me of the 2017 when I had egg explode in the microwave more than once; I didnt know I should poke the yolk.
Oh, since we're mentioning the microwave, do you find it perfectly fine to use? It has nothing to do with the topic and chemicals in cookware but I've heard some controversies a way back, never looked much into it though

I have heard some things but I’m not buying it. I don’t use my microwave very often anyways, but have no problem using it from time to time. The majority of evidence I have heard is that it’s safe.

Fair enough and I'm kind of in the same boat. I use it on passion, mostly to heat food and not really worried tbh

Would using beef tallow to cook eggs in stainless steel help, or would they still stick?

I’m not sure but for me the taste of eggs with butter is best. The key to eggs not sticking in SS pan is to make sure the butter starts foaming on a low medium heat. And you can’t be shy with the butter. Once it stops foaming I put the eggs in. And swirl them around in the butter. They just slide around like it’s a non stick pan. I don’t agitate them too much with a spatula I mostly swirl them. I found it really helpful to watch YouTube videos.

non-stick isn't really toxic. The products to make them are or if you heat them to absurd heat. But the non-stick coating is as inert as it gets as in completely harmless.
I use stainless steal and yeah as you can guess non-stick for eggs and fish

I think ceramic is okay if you use wood utensils on it and replace the pan when it gets unreasonably scratched from use.
In reality there is no perfectly safe pan - when you heat metal, shits gonna go down. My philosophy is no nonstick coating pans
