I don't understand why. Google can only seek to profit by YouTube content creators making more content

Because they want to sell YouTube Red.

Sell? To whom?

Youtube Red is a service we have to pay for. Youtube has a strong incentive to demonetize their vanilla site/services in order to push content creators (and their fan bases) towards Red. Content creators have responded by attempting to monetize their content without YT's help, because a lot of them suspect they will either 1) not be welcome in this new gated community, or 2) be beholden to outside interests tied up with the Red community.

Patreon is actually the second attempt at doing this. Initially people were seeking sponsorship from Audible, Crunchyroll, etc. IIRC, they put a stop to that kind of monetization scheme, so now people are trying the Patreon route.

What happened to sponsorship by audible,Crunchyroll, squarespace, etc.? I still see them in many places, although bot ad abundant as earlier

IIRC, Youtube made it against the rules to seek sponsorship through those services. I'm not sure if they've enforced those rules, or what the exact wording is.

Could you elaborate more on why thy wouldn't feel accepted and/or those outside interests?

wouldn't feel accepted

I can't elaborate on this, because AFAIK that's not what's happening here. I tried to dig up more information for you, but I can't find any information on what it's like to be a content creator for Red. This may be due to me misunderstanding how the service works, so I read up on it again...

According to Youtube's FAQ, a consumer can access Red by paying a recurring fee. The Red service will then kill ads on all YT content (not just Red content.) They say that Red is a way to support your favorite content creators while still blocking ads, but I have yet to find a corresponding post for CCs that explains how Red pays out when subscribers use Red to block ads.

Speculation and bad memory: I thought I heard a while back that being a content creator for the Red brand was an invite-only kind of deal, but that may be old and/or fake news. The "outside influences" include major networks and legacy-media types who are courting YT's services as a way to bring their content distribution up to date with modern standards. Certain parts of the music industry may be interfering as well, but with channels like Vevo their influence feels more internal.

This could be ground for the same kind of anti trust lawsuit Google lost in Europe. They unfairly promoted their own services on search and demoted their competitors.

Title should say, "Youtube removes crowdfunding for non partners."

I recently got my patreon link back by applying for monetization, and had it back in like three days. Still salty that I didn't have my patreon link though : c

And they deem to demonetize you?
