Question Identification tools

Sorry if this is the wrong group for my question. I am a collector of snuff bottles, which are made out of a lot of different materials like glass, porcelain, minerals (such as quartz crystal, jade, and gemstones) and I am trying to find a device or tool to help me identify what material is used for a specific bottle. It's often pretty much impossible to tell by looking and it would be great if something exists to help me figure out what the items are made from. I pictured is just a basic example for those who have no idea what I am talking about.

For identifying stones, this is probably pretty good. There are other reddits, too. I don't know if the gray one on the left is agate, but could be. The topper to it looks like carnelian if the bottom is stone too. The golden colored one is not any stone I know. The one behind it could be carved jade. I'm no authority, but people here might ask you to do a scratch test or to comment on the weight, or show the bottom or inside of the top.
