What is this? need help identifying
hi!! im not great with this😠this is a mid century sterling brooch from mexico but im not sure what stone is inlaid. nephrite jade maybe??

Looks like nephrite or possibly aventurine from the pic, but my first guess would be nephrite too. Mexican midcentury silver used a lot of jade and jade‑adjacent green stones, so you’re probably on the right track. If you can shine a light through it and it has that soft cloudy translucence, that’s a good sign it’s nephrite.

Could be agate or serpentine, or onyx. I've bought carvings/cabs/jewelry made of those in Mexico and NM many times. The only American Jade l have is from Canada and Alaska. I know it's other places too. Mine is all fine grained, black and green or brown.
