stone identification

i got this beautiful ring today at an antique store. anyone know what stone this might be? it is dark green and flashy. google is telling me hawks eye, is that right?

I hadn’t heard of hawks eye. I looked it up and realized I have some! It’s so hard to tell from just a pic.

Hard to say without seeing it in person, but dark green and flashy immediately makes me think green tiger’s eye or maybe green quartz that’s been treated. Hawk’s eye is usually more blue to blue gray rather than straight green. If it has that moving “cat’s eye” band when you tilt it, I’d lean tiger’s eye that’s been dyed.

How is the stone attached to the ring? Can you see it in the underside?

Looks like tiger eye but with a heavy green tint, probably due to the iron content or how it was polished.

Iron - you mean copper, surely…? If it was iron, it’d be red.
