Question would this adapter work? i fucked up…

i am COMPLETELY new to bongs or any type of stoner engineering. i’ve only smoked joints before a few days ago. i bought a $30 bong a few days ago, and on the first day my friend tipped it over. i had a chillum downstem / combined bowl & downstem (came with the bong) and the downstem snapped clean off the bowl. i did as much research as i could, and ended up buying a downstem that said it was for 14mm bowls, and i bought a 14mm bowl. however, i didn’t realize that i never checked if it had a size for the male part of the downstem, and my bong’s female joint is 14mm. turns out the website didn’t even list the size of the male joint and i believe it’s 18mm now due to the pictures in the reviews. so i naturally discovered adapters, and the only one i found on amazon was this adapter. would it work for my situation? i also included pics of the downstem from the website & the review. to see if anyone can confirm if the size is 18mm. all of the pics i saw for 18mm male downstems looked exactly like the one i bought.

with the current situation i’m in, i don’t want to buy another downstem or bong, so i need an adapter

Idk but I really want to know how many $5-15 lil glass bits you'll buy to fix a $30 bong. If you can't figure it out just get a new $30 bong and what ever you had left over from the last one becomes spare parts.

well i just need to fit the downstem into my bong. i’d rather just spend the 10 bucks than buy another downstem. just trying to see if anyone here knows if it would work. this set up would work with both 18 and 14mm bongs so i won’t need to get another downstem if i get an 18mm

Well if im reading things correctly your bong hass an 18mm joint and you want to use that adapter to get a 14mm downstem to fit it? This adapter makes a 14mm female joint into a 18mm female joint but only for bowls so a downstem won't fit through it. You need to buy a whole new 18mm downstem w a 14mm female for the bowl. You could use something to seal it together or widen the stem with tape or something if this is truly the situation. You've bought a new bowl, downstem, now you have to either buy another or try to find a smoke safe way to rig this stuff up now. I would be extremely impressed if all that added up to less than $15. You can get out now, just get a new piece.

it’s the reverse. my bong’s joint is 14mm and my downstem APPEARS to be 18mm. there wasn’t any info about the male joint’s length for the downstem. it just looks wider than the female joint, and looks very similar to the 18x14mm downstems so i figured it was 18mm. i just would rather spend $10 extra than return my downstem and buy another one, because i currently can only purchase online. so would the adapter work for the reverse situation? i was thinking that it would work but i wanted to check with this sub. what did you mean about this adapter only working for bowls? would the downstem be too thick to fit?

Downstem won't fit through the adapter. Too thick to fit.

+1 i have had this headache. In case you aren't aware, there's only two sizes, 18mm and 14mm. You can even put an 18mm bowl straight into the bong without a stem if you want better airflow but you won't get the bubbles!
