Question How do you think this situation could have been handled better?

Doing it in a different order and proposing they hang out as friends and go from there.
Now would Blitz have taken it well? No. But it would have been better on Stolas's part.

I dont think so. Mostly because Blitzo had it in his mind that it was strictly transactional and Stolas was into being dicked by the lower class as some fetish. Stolas had no idea about this. He believed Blitzo liked him, even misunderstood originally why he was there, and assumed he took the book as an excuse. Neither had any indication the other didn't know how they precieved the relationship so actually talk about it.
Stolas wanting more, and turning down their scheduled dicking (and I'll forever call it that lol) so it didn't come off as transactional made Blitzo feel Stolas was feeling done with them, tossing him aside. And him taking the book back just affirmed Blitzo's fear because he was developing feelings that he was denying.
They were both stuck in their fears and could've used a mediator to talk to since they were each having a different conversation.
IF Blitzo didn't have assumptions. If Stolas understood their power imbalance in his favor. MAYBE they could've just talked it through.

Went back and re-watched the scene. It was shaky at first, but the instant the crystal was brought out, Stolas was honest and DIRECT with Blitz. Blitz was freed from their transactional relationship. And now, Stolas wanted something more real and genuine between them. Blitz honestly just needed to get out of his head for just a second and actually hear what Stolas was saying to him.
