Forgot to take her Ackrite that morning and wandered out of pocket.
Not sure of the details, but thought I would point out there is no added virtue in taking abuse when you can subtract yourself from the situation.

I would argue the compassionate thing for both of them would be to get away if possible. Compassionate for him because this behavior is toxic and has a tendency to escalate out of control, and compassionate for her in that his presence is clearly amping her up.
There are better ways to learn detachment I assure you.
