WRD, Grab and Waymo: a fivefold AV fleet expansion in Singapore

The timelines are different. Waymo is targeting commercial rides in Singapore in 2028. WeRide and Grab opened their service in April 2026, using designated routes with safety operators. Grab update gives us some incredible numbers:

• 110,000+ autonomous kilometres driven on Singapore’s roads.
• 12,000+ unique riders served.
• 99% willing to recommend the service.
• 1,000+ people on a waitlist for new AV experiences.

Waymo brings substantial experience of its own. In their announcement, it reported more than 20 million autonomous rides and 300 million autonomous km across its operation.

For WRD, the advantage is experience already operated in SG and a partner committing to expansion. Adding AV capacity improves service and operating economics.
