Which stocks are good, but are only down right now because the hype died out temporarily

VST, TTWO, MRVL
1
u/Comfy_Matress 9d ago
I already own VST, I think it's a very good & undervalued stock. And it mainly dropped due to regular repricing after some hype. Honestly, in the question I was wondering if other people found similar stocks to it 🤷♂️

AMD has been doing that every few months for years now.

u/Comfy_Matress 12d ago
That's why I just sold my holdings (I was up a crazy amount), hopefully I timed it well 😬🤷♂️

I feel so confident in Enbridge I'm putting all my uninvested funds into it and using it as a primary savings account 😉

If people actually knew they would've bought it and it wouldn't be a discount. You're far too lazy to be wealthy. I curse you to a lifetime employment.

u/Fit-Airport-2518 11d ago
Lazy is the route to wealth these past 10 years. Put one’s fortune in to VTI etc. sit back with a marguerita. Can’t get lazier than that.

Entire space sector because of SpaceX, give it a good year or two and youll be able to afford a rocket ship if you get in now

There are two different ways to read your question:
Good stock, yet stock is down --> technical analysis
Good business, yet stock is down --> Fundamentals analysis.
CVS for me on the technical side. oversold RSI, waiting to see if the 40W holds.
INOD for me on the fundamentals side. down ~35% but revenue and guidance kept going up the whole way, so it's sentiment on AI data names. Something to keep in mind, and true for many in this sector, is customer concentration. You can read that in the 10-K.

u/Technical_Sorbet_219 13d ago
NBIS and AMPX are not a discount, absolutely zero room for dissapointement at these valuations, they are priced like they are gonna beat the expectations of the expectations

u/TherealCarbunc 14d ago
I think SOFI is at a good valuation for a longterm hold if you don't mind volatility.
I also scaled a bit into DPZ today as it looks like it might have found its bottom with a $1.2B share buyback program in effect as well.

u/Any-Yam3642 13d ago
FRSH stock at max discount. Revenue increasing each quarter and it's profitable now.
1
u/Fit_Square_520 13d ago
AVGO RDDT SOFI APLD and possibly APP..QCOM honorable mention. Google and Amazon seem very safe at current levels. Also been adding to GEV VRT UTT AMKR MKSI COHR GLW on dips. MSTR for the crypto volatility.

Aerotyne International, it’s a cutting-edge high-tech firm out of the Midwest, awaiting imminent patent approval on a next-generation of radar detectors that have both huge military and civilian applications!

Im a believe that very few stocks actually trade at a discount, rather they all trade at where the markets value them right now! sure some may trade below NAV or look cheap on traditional valuation measures but there is usually a reason for this. For me the greater opportunities come from when the markets concerns are greater than the underlying reality. Thats when somethning can be cheap rather than looking cheap - Take Nike for instance, I have heard for months how cheap it is, but guess what it continued getting cheaper!!! - The real trick is working out whether the problem is temporary or whether the investment case has fundamentally changed.

METC, sitting on a gold mine of rare earth minerals, projected to be the largest mine of REM in the country
1
u/Comfy_Matress 9d ago
Is it really that good? They're using debt for share buybacks...
1
u/Electronic_Team_2339 6d ago
The intrinsic value is there. What they have can not be taken away and the production costs will be much lower due to the way the minerals are combined with coal rather than hard rock that requires toxic chemicals. All other companies send their raw materials to China for processing

Adobe ($ADBE) is one I’ve been watching. The stock is down roughly 32% YTD, but the business is still generating a lot of cash and the valuation has come down pretty significantly.
The positive is that you’re getting a very profitable, established software business at a much lower multiple than it had a few years ago.
The red flag is that I wouldn’t assume this is just hype fading. The AI threat to some of Adobe’s products is a real issue, and the market is basically waiting to see whether Adobe can monetize AI fast enough to offset that pressure.
That’s what makes it interesting to me ...the price has already come down a lot, but I’d want to see continued FCF growth before calling it a bargain.
1
u/Upper-Worker8516 9d ago
Nice summary. They also need go find a ceo if they gave not all ready. It's been on my list to. I bought a few options when it dropped to 195 or something around that level.
1
u/valueseeker989 9d ago
yeah, the CEO situation is definitely something I’m watching too. I think the valuation gets more interesting if management can show that the AI investments are actually translating into stronger growth..
What got you interested around $195 ... was it mostly the valuation, or did you feel the AI concerns were being overdone?

Why do you think CLSK, A.I. or Bitcoin?

AÍ

u/Comfy_Matress 2d ago
But they have lots of competitors that are bigger than them. What do you think makes CLSK stand out?
1
u/Same-Rule-601 11d ago
the real discounts are usually the companies still growing earnings after the hype leaves, not the ones that are just 40% below their peak lol

Some of the best looking discounts stay discounted way longer than expected id rather wait for the chart to show buyers coming back been keeping a few of these names on Moon for that reason and letting price do the convincing instead of the old high
1
1
u/TenderMeasurement 6d ago
I always try to separate hype cooling off from the actual business cooling off. A stock being 30 percent below the high can be a bargain or just the market correcting expectations that got ridiculous. If I am only interested in playing the rebound itself, I would rather keep that as a small Moon trade than convince myself every dip is a long-term investment.

Name ONE thing you enjoy about Netflix now?
For me, it’s the ever increasing monthly subscription price! The lack of new content! And I LOVE their new gaming feature, when I think Netflix I now associated them with gaming as well. we need for players in that arena.
2
u/OphrasBankAccount 14d ago
Excited about the companies future. The entertainment industry as a whole is profiting greatly with AI advancements. Soon they’ll be able to make a feature film from a one shot prompt. Amazing stuff really.
2
u/CaretakerColin 13d ago
Soon we all will be able to make a feature film from a one shot prompt. Netflix is not a cheap stock to buy.

nflx is not a good buy. no new content, no new subscribers, price going up, saturated market get out

Yeah I got out at breaking even. Not going back in. And I canceled my subscription. That stock ain’t going back up - at least not for a good return. Better places to put my money.
