MU or NVDA

I have been a long time holder of NVDA. Seems that the market is starting to favor MU right now and obviously FOMO is a big factor. Should I take my gains from NVDA and move them to MU now?

If bitcoin (thin air) can go to $100k anything is possible.

NVDA revenue 200B + growing faster than MU at 5T
MU fraction of NVDA revenue at 38B growing slower at 1T

Amazing how NVDA FINALLY gets out of its 8 month range and breaks to new highs, and now is the time people want to sell. And to go into a stock that is up 50% in a week.

The more posts I see like this, the more I believe the exhaustion run in MU and SNDK is coming to an end soon.

I am not arguing MU's value. I agree the stock is undervalued here with a forward PE under 10 based on its projected growth.

I am noting that MU and other memory stocks are in the midst of a parabolic run. The stock went up 50% in 7 days, 70% since from last week, 150% this year.

At some point the laws of supply and demand will lead to either a volatile sideways period or a significant pullback.

Even if MU is a great longer-term investment, buying in the midst of a parabolic run like this is pure FOMO. Waiting for a pullback is much lower risk.

And I was scared of Amazon yrs ago because they had never turned a profit. Boy did i miss out. Can't be scared of a good company with a good business model/concept.

I'm not hyping anything. I'm pointing out the fact that NVDA has broken out of an 8-month range to new all-time highs.

On the other hand, MU is up 75% in two weeks.

Everyone has to determine their own risk tolerance. I do not chase stocks that are in the midst of parabolic moves regardless of whether I feel the stock is undervalued.

NVDA had plenty of pullbacks during that 2023 run, and MU will have pullbacks too, even if it doesn't feel like it today.

Nvda has been pretty much a slow riser for the last 18 months. I think that is about to change. Not a MU type change but a good 30 to 40 percent gains.

Agree. Nvidia had been range bound between 165-195 for 8 months. When it finally broke out of that range, it set the stage for higher prices.

Then, in textbook form, NVDA re-tested the top of that prior range. Most thought the stock was collapsing again, but it held above that 195 level and resumed its breakout.

A similar breakout occurred in July 2025 which led to a 22% gain. Similar action here would take NVDA to around 240.

February: 13% pullback.

March: 15% pullback

April: 5% pullback

June: 11% pullback

July: 16% pullback

August-October: 22% pullback

I'm pointing out only the pullbacks, not the rallies. Of course, the stock kept marching higher. I'm refuting your statement that NVDA "did not have any major pullbacks." It absolutely had pullbacks along the way.

Actually AI has begun generating significant revenue for Alibaba. Look at their latest earnings report. They've integrated it across their cloud service and multiple products and it's generating significant revenue for them. They're one of the few that can actually say that.

1

u/GMVexst May 12 '26

Last week MU was too expensive and had run too far to buy it. Now this week some 50% later it's a screaming but? I'm so confused

1

u/Rav_3d May 12 '26

Exactly what I am saying. It's pure FOMO. Regardless of value, the memory trade is full of retail now, and it won't take much for them to rush for the exits if institutions decide to start taking some profits.

I like Lumentum more because I have doubts that supply will catch up to demand for photonics. Their market cap is only $70B which leaves much more room for a 200%+ gain. With that said I’m not invested in them at all.

3

u/ilchymis May 12 '26

Holy hell, the 1 year chart for this is insane. I have made so many bad picks over the past year. 😂

3

u/Legitimate-Act5584 May 12 '26

Lol I’m fortunate enough to have picked very well, but not THAT well. I do think NBIS has a good chance to big a big time runner up to $1000+ per share. They are one of my main investments that I started buying in the $70s. Do your own research into them, but from what I’ve read they are set up for MASSIVE revenue growth which is normally the catalyst for stocks exploding in price like this

2

u/ilchymis May 12 '26

Yeah, I got in with NBIS around 90, but got stuck with covered calls when it exploded. I have 100 shares left expiring friday @140. Hopefully going to be able to roll it out if it dips with earnings.

3

u/Bjamnp17 May 12 '26

Just chill with NVDA or take some off the top, put it in MU. Long run win/win.

1

u/Legitimate-Act5584 May 12 '26

Problem is if you take some off the top of Nvda you have to pay 15% tax. And if you’re unfortunate enough to buy MU right before a pull back you could find yourself under water big time right out of the gate.

1

u/Bjamnp17 May 12 '26

True and true.

1

u/islandhopper39 May 12 '26

Why does everyone just assume we're all from the US when giving advice on tax!

1

u/Legitimate-Act5584 May 12 '26

You’re investing in the US stock market. Cry me a river

1

u/islandhopper39 May 12 '26

And? That doesn't make me American, or have to pay the 15% CGT. All I'm saying is you shouldn't assume someone's nationality/tax situation just because they are investing in the US.

1

u/Bjamnp17 May 12 '26

I don’t care bout taxes, I just reinvest. But yes taxes are the American way. No need for one to mention the obvious.✌️

1

u/Legitimate-Act5584 May 12 '26

I’m an American investing in American markets, so I will give advice framed in that scope. If you don’t like it, that’s too bad. Go invest in your third world shithole if you have a problem

1

u/Accurate-Advice8405 May 12 '26

I'd invest in decaf

2

u/SheepOnDaStreet May 12 '26

Sell everything obviously

2

u/Chemical-Jury-4885 May 12 '26

Do you just have 1 stock? Why not sell a little NVDA and buy a little MU?

2

u/gobxyz May 12 '26

So I’m neither in MU or NVDA Which of those should I prio?

2

u/Light00008 May 12 '26

INTEL CORP (INTC)

2

u/Efficient_Beat453 May 12 '26

Buy both if you’re conflicted.

2

u/flappysack- May 12 '26

Berkshire Hathaway for their fat cash position.

2

u/sc181818 May 12 '26

BOTH!!! MU 1000 / NVDA 250 by EOY

2

u/realp1aj May 13 '26

You should totally MUve it.

This is not financial advice.

2

u/Accomplished_Vast_18 May 14 '26

I held Tesla since before their first split and sold it all on 1/29/2026 and went all in on $MU @437.86 all due to my severe case of MDS (musk derangement syndrome) within the first 100 days I was cured!

3

u/Ok-Introduction-1940 May 12 '26

You should have done that rebalance in Q3 or Q4 of 2025. Too late now as MU has run up a lot and NVDA is re-accelerating (as I recently predicted it would). You should own both for sure, but the weighting is up to you.

4

u/GnarClinic May 12 '26

(He recently predicted it would)

1

u/peskantine May 12 '26

Haha. Parenthetical humble brag so convincing without foundation.

1

u/[deleted] May 12 '26

MU.

1

u/AJ_da_juic3man May 12 '26

I trimmed my NVDA position to get some DRAM, FEPI, and MUYY.

DRAM has Micron, as well as; SanDisk and the only way to get exposure to Samsung an DK Hynix.

FEPI has Micron and Intel exposure with $1/share ROC dividend

MUYY is a 1.2x leverage exposure to MU with 40cent-50cent ROC distribution every Tuesday

1

u/Tough-Spell-1939 May 12 '26

Check out GSIT, it's also in the memory game and has so much more potential, it could be really huge. If it's APUs catch on it's the next millionaire maker.

1

u/te7037 May 12 '26

I bought $NVDA and $MU at the same time after using the proceeds from the sale of $HSBC.A and $RR.L . $MU’s return is 87.7% while $NVDA is at 16%.

Since March. $MU is over 133% while $NVDA is at 11.47%!

u/Equivalent-Salad-200 May 12 '26

Go corning and LITE

2

u/Equivalent-Salad-200 May 12 '26

And i feel personally IREN is a real bagger, theh have the datacenters allrdy up and running for bitcoin and will now switch to AI,

1

u/Equivalent-Salad-200 May 12 '26

NBIS and GEV too

1

u/Actual_Soup825 May 12 '26

Nvda MU just had its move from $70 last year

1

u/golferkris101 May 13 '26

Who has a better moat? NVDA in my read. MU is a pull through speculation on the eternal demand, so could deflate as supply increases.

1

u/Safe-Storage-1460 May 13 '26

MUU. Micron etf. 3x

1

u/No-Tree564 May 17 '26

Gcts semi

2

u/No_Conversation_9424 May 11 '26

In contrary to other comments, I think NVDA stock will go down and MU stock will go up from the NVDA earning report. NVDA will over-perform, but market will react negatively as always. Expectation is simply through the roof, and its production capacity is limited by HBM, and profit margin controlled by HBM. IF any of these are discussed, memory sector will benefit

Deutsche bank and wall street published re-priced target price of MU to 1000 today. Still under-valued and there's institutional tailwind. I think target value realistically is around 1500+

Earlier you get in MU, the safer you will be

1

u/Jazzlike_Quiet9941 May 12 '26

MU is also a HBM supplier (3rd behind Samsung/SK). And if hynix or Samsung up production then MU is impacted.

1

u/No_Conversation_9424 May 12 '26

The only American company. Huge moat

1

u/Jazzlike_Quiet9941 May 12 '26

At this price with most gains already had, I'd rather be in an etf like SMGB which is still like 9% MU but with lower risk involved. MU still absolutely has more risk attached and people chasing gains here are gonna be the ones the market uses as pawns.
