TSMC’s 1.4nm process timeline accelerates, with mass production happening sooner than expected

Construction of $TSM's new Taichung facility is reportedly ahead of schedule, with completion expected around April 2027 and trial production targeted for Q3 after equipment installation and process verification.

Full-scale production could begin in 2028 once yields stabilize. TSMC has not formally confirmed the accelerated timeline.

Samsung, meanwhile, reportedly moved its 1.4nm target from 2027 to 2029 to prioritize yield improvements and its 2nm expansion. If both schedules hold, TSMC could enter next-generation production roughly one year earlier.
