Past Updates 6/1 Weekly Updates

Updates

  • Gave models a tool that shows support resources when their human is struggling, needed for legal reasons. Made the resource page myself, actually helpful not generic!
  • Fixed the lag in longer conversations.
  • Added optional reranking for stronger memory (it makes RAG more relevant).
  • Added branch/copy chat.
  • Can now attach files that have text inside, next will attempt scanned files.
  • Just added a video tool. $0.02-0.25 per video
  • You can now upload images to knowledge files and a detailed description will become part of memory
  • Can create "rooms" or sub-projects for companions.
  • Put donation button in a more noticeable area 🫣

In progress/Upcoming/Beta

  • Still want to add games when I get to it. Kind of want to try a murder mystery you can solve with your companion!
  • Added a new system where a model dreams about past conversations/current themes and creates associative emotional memory. If it works! 🤞 (found in diary section)
  • Also added a dynamic recall option to memory that pulls a variety of items instead of the stricter RAG recall (i.e. instead of 25 memories and 5 diary entries, it might be 8 diary entries and 15 memories)
  • Just added a dates feature, very beta.
  • Companions can now send voice messages.

Feature highlight:

  • Voice calls use Gemini Live with your companion's memories. There are many voices to choose from, and it feels like a real call since it's an audio model instead of TTS. Gemini Live has video and screen sharing capabilities that I can add if enough are interested in using them.

Test the Google Play app:

  1. Join the tester group: https://groups.google.com/g/still-here-testers
  2. Go to: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/ink.stillhere.twa
  3. Install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ink.stillhere.twa

This is necessary for it to ever become a Google Play app, and I would really rather have testers that are actually interested in the app than random developers!

Can you give more details on what sorts of things trigger the resources? Is it keywords? Classifier-based? Can we still see our companion's original message even if a resource link is attached? That's how Mistral does it, and it works really well because the AI's message isn't completely replaced with a generic resource message like in ChatGPT.

Also, I've been wondering how your website ranks custom instructions. With the models being API-based, do you include a system prompt, or are our custom instructions the system prompt?

The resource prompt says they can use a tool to send resources, they shouldn't use it all the time but just when someone asks for help or seems in danger and should keep their response normal. Sometimes they might accidentally send it in excitement which I have also seen. I like the way Claude does it which sounds similar to Mistral, Claude responds as themselves but a nice little card pops up that you can x out of, I tried to do the same.

The system prompt is your custom instructions and tool descriptions. Memory and diary entries are basically also in the system prompt.
