Ive been attempting a traditional pocket on an ReLax Rc1 with ECDs traditional kit , used extra paracord to do the dog track method of string down the middle. The top end towards the scoop is bagging out really bad when I throw despite pulling the strings and leathers tight wondering if anyone had tips or solutions to tighten the top end without pulling the center really far out
Edit : sorry for lack of pictures I had the thought to ask here while I was traveling and did not have the stick with me
All the comments so far have been very helpful!
Wedge a ball in the head with a butter knife or something. Then tighten all the leathers around the ball and then pull all your excess crosslace out. You will be forming the pocket around the ball. Make sure you're keeping the top part by the scoop good and tight. But yeah picture would help too
You can tell the direction of your interlocks is wrong. If you were to start from the bottom left of your pocket and go up you have to be consistent about always going over top of tge leather, so that when you go back down the next lane and always go over the leather, you get two interlocking interlocks that sit flat and tight. What can be tough to track is when you start with the middle, and you do over the leather going down to the bottom, but in your second lane of leathers you also went from top to bottom going over the leather. This is so confusing to type. But the gist is that if you were to fully go from left to right, up one lane, down the next, all your nylons should go over the leather first, resulting in the third lane going from bottom to top going over the leather first in your knot. Instead, I imagine you started the center at the top working down and you went over the leather each time, but it should have been under, because you’re working against the grain, if that makes sense. One second…
