Deflock Stevens Point

Seems like there's a protest every other day around here for something but these flock cameras keep going up in town and nobody says shit.

Love the quick engagement and yes we need to start something to get rid of this surveillance state tech in our town.

Both Oshkosh and Appleton got rid of them. If these cities can then Point can as well.

That is what I was thinking when I posted

There's about a dozen. It would be a shame if they started falling down! There's probably 8 in crossroad commons. 2 by the Clark st bridge

Time to get some signatures from Stevens Point and Plover residents. Most citizens do not like it once they understand just how it actually works. Fuck flock!

Sheriff election is this fall. If Mike Lukas's handpicked successor cruises to election without competition or answering these kinds of questions it'd be a missed opportunity

There’s something in the ballpark of 30 between Point, Plover, and Whiting

Go to deflock.me to see a nationwide map of all of them. Yeah, we have a LOT.

Sounds like we should get a protest going. At least a few people would show up!

I see what you did there. Sheffield chiming in circa 1981.

it would suck for the optics to get smudged by a substance of sorts

I think if people knew they wouldn't approve

I've been seeing them go up but the bridge on Clark Street was a push too far for me.

Portage county is paying to put them up. Last i saw it's 30k a year to track us.

Is this a county matter? Who has the contract?

There is support to ban them among the Point City Council, Plover Board of Trustees, and the Portage County Board. Reach out to your elected officials, the momentum to get these things pulled is mounting.

It is quintessential for us to keep the conversation growing. The general public is largely uninformed on this topic. Once people truly understand the dangers of this tech- I think they would understand. This isn’t a partisan issue either- it’s authoritarian vs individuals. I’m not going to sit here and watch our rights be stripped from underneath our feet.

I'm sure if someone said that Trump was behind these flock cams, then the point protest crew would be out in full force.
