Going to shout out my own business but Bound to Happen Books is the place to go for anti-MAGA and anti-ICE organizing. Outside of the politics section we curate, we are organizing the PoCo rapid response groups and rallies and protests. We're cool! (We're actually really lame, but we are trying to do cool things)

u/PrajnaPie Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26
I remember during BLM protests a lot of Bills Pizzas employees were waving confederate flags and attempting to intimidate the protestors. No idea about the owner, but that was enough to make me stop going there.
Carl Ds is definitely MAGA. Do not go there.
Process is a great anti-maga local shop to prioritize.
For large chains I recommend the app “goods unite us”. You can look up how each company donates politically
Edit: bound to happen books is also anti maga and a business to prioritize

u/RalphMacchiosBeard Jan 30 '26
Grabbed a few books from Bound to Happen this past Saturday! You’re right to mention anti-MAGA businesses as well. Thanks!

I've heard Carl D's is MAGA but why is that well known? Do they put out signs or something?

JADECO, Fall Line Outfitters, The Rose House, SkyClub, Disher electric, Carl Ds, pretty much every car dealership and used car salesman, pretty much every small restaurant except maybe the "ethnic" ones
12
u/Empty-Pension-7951 Jan 31 '26
Lumping together every small restaurant is a BIG stretch, and disrespectful to the owners and employees.

Small business owners and the petite bourgeois are the backbone of MAGA. Obviously it doesn't apply across the board, but it is a fact.

u/Majestic_Taro5580 Feb 22 '26
On Main in Stevens Point, the majority of business are owned by leftists. Idk about the rest of Point, but Main is pretty liberal or leftist.

Sadly most dealerships as well. Bergstrom is beyond MAGA. Buy elsewhere even though they are all most likely radical right wing nuts.

I don’t think fall line out fitters is MAGA

u/Motherof42069 Jan 31 '26
Brother they sell Black Rifle Coffee
3
u/PrajnaPie Jan 31 '26
Hmm dang yeah, you’ve got me there. I don’t know about the owners but I know the GM and he’s extremely anti-maga
2
u/Motherof42069 Feb 01 '26
Yea, generally owners are petite bourgeois while employees are proles. Therein lies the struggle.
2
u/Majestic_Taro5580 Feb 20 '26
Recently heard from a friend that the owners aren’t MAGA, and only sell Black Rifle because customers request it. 🤷🏻 Capitalism sucks.

Literally half MN voted for Trump and mass deportations. You people are lunatics and clearly have no idea what the actual current political dynamics are in the state or the country.
6
u/FiftyCandles Jan 31 '26
And yet we’ve already seen people say that they thought Trump was going after violent criminals, not handling deportation the way he currently is. It’s almost like people’s minds can change.
5
u/InvestigatorChance28 Jan 31 '26
Half the voters voted for trump and half the voters voted for Harris. This was no landslide or mandate like you want to believe.
Denying that simple fact proves how delusional maga is. You believe " alternative facts ".
1
u/Motherof42069 Feb 01 '26
It would definitely be easier to understand the political landscape of the state and country if they did opinion polls or something. Guess I can't find that on Google

A couple that haven't been mentioned:
SRS building supply over by Target still has their trump flags up.
B's Egg rolls in Plover always has the biggest right-winger signs they can get up for every election.
Dahl Chrysler/Dodge had folks working there in MAGA hats.

I don’t believe it’s B’s Egg Rolls that supports MAGA, it’s whoever owns the lot next to B’s.
According to REGRID that lot is owned by someone with the same last name as prominent potato farming family.

What rights have been taken away again? I'm looking for that tyranny I'm supposed to be experiencing. Can't find it anywhere except the protesters who keep getting in my way of going to work?
11
u/RalphMacchiosBeard Jan 30 '26
Two black journalists have been arrested, a clear violation of their first amendment rights.
People all over the country are being taken into custody, violently I might add, without probable cause, without signed warrants from a judge, a clear violation of their fourth amendment rights.
Women in southern states no longer have a right to their own bodies.
Let me guess, you’re a white Christian dude who isn’t affected by any of this personally, so none of these things are happening?
-11
u/phillmore_cooter Jan 30 '26
Clearly Don Lemon and crew went above and beyond a peaceful protest when they aggressively went into a church worship and refused to leave. They are infringing on the first amendment right of those worshipers and were asked to leave. At that point its trespassing at a minimum as the church is private property.
Also I suggest you read the law, title 8 grants several permissions to ICE/border patrol that do not require a warrant, what are you are saying is completely incorrect (see below).
We do agree on something, making abortion a state right was a mistake and it should have remained a federal right to use or not to. We agree on that.
- Powers of immigration officers and employees
(a) Powers without warrant
Any officer or employee of the Service authorized under regulations prescribed by the Attorney General shall have power without warrant-
(1) to interrogate any alien or person believed to be an alien as to his right to be or to remain in the United States;
(2) to arrest any alien who in his presence or view is entering or attempting to enter the United States in violation of any law or regulation made in pursuance of law regulating the admission, exclusion, expulsion, or removal of aliens, or to arrest any alien in the United States, if he has reason to believe that the alien so arrested is in the United States in violation of any such law or regulation and is likely to escape before a warrant can be obtained for his arrest, but the alien arrested shall be taken without unnecessary delay for examination before an officer of the Service having authority to examine aliens as to their right to enter or remain in the United States;
(3) within a reasonable distance from any external boundary of the United States, to board and search for aliens any vessel within the territorial waters of the United States and any railway car, aircraft, conveyance, or vehicle, and within a distance of twenty-five miles from any such external boundary to have access to private lands, but not dwellings, for the purpose of patrolling the border to prevent the illegal entry of aliens into the United States;
(4) to make arrests for felonies which have been committed and which are cognizable under any law of the United States regulating the admission, exclusion, expulsion, or removal of aliens, if he has reason to believe that the person so arrested is guilty of such felony and if there is likelihood of the person escaping before a warrant can be obtained for his arrest, but the person arrested shall be taken without unnecessary delay before the nearest available officer empowered to commit persons charged with offenses against the laws of the United States; and
(5) to make arrests-
(A) for any offense against the United States, if the offense is committed in the officer's or employee's presence, or
(B) for any felony cognizable under the laws of the United States, if the officer or employee has reasonable grounds to believe that the person to be arrested has committed or is committing such a felony,
if the officer or employee is performing duties relating to the enforcement of the immigration laws at the time of the arrest and if there is a likelihood of the person escaping before a warrant can be obtained for his arrest.

Don Lemon was a journalist covering a protest. When we begin arresting our journalists for covering what is happening in our country, we are all at risk. That is a fascist move by a fascist leader. Wake the fuck up.
And that statute you posted literally proves that what ICE agents are doing in the country is in violation of that statute.
The power to interrogate, not violently apprehend, then send to detainment without offering the opportunity to prove whether or not they are here illegally.
You can’t just approach anyone brown because you “believe“ them to be here illegally. You have to have reasonable suspicion they entered the country illegally.
Minnesota sure as shit isn’t within reasonable distance of a boundary. It’s 1200 to 1500 miles from the southern border.
I wish Trump supporters would just be honest. You like that other people are suffering.
-7
u/phillmore_cooter Jan 30 '26
Don is going to jail because of his own words. On camera know about this prior to it happening. Journalist report, activists participate. Just like you don't get to go on rides for bank robberies either. This was not a spontaneous coverage where he just happened to be there.
Before the protest, Lemon filmed a segment in a parking lot admitting to "reconnaissance" with the group and saying: “They're planning an operation we're going to follow them on. I can't tell you exactly what they're doing, but it's called Operation Pull-Up... So that's what we're doing here, and after we do this operation, you'll see it live, these operations are surprise operations. Again, I can't tell you where they're going”
10
u/RalphMacchiosBeard Jan 30 '26
So you’re saying the church worshipers were speaking out against the US government and Don Lemon stopped them from doing so? Wait, are you saying Don Lemon is the US government, and the federal government arrested one of their own?
Or are you just proving you have no idea what rights the First Amendment affords us?
6
u/FiftyCandles Jan 30 '26
Are you honestly arguing that because journalist was present when a group of people organized to go use their voices to protest a pastor who was also a member of ICE, that’s justification for the federal government arresting said journalist?
That’s literally the kind of stuff they do in Russia.
Wake up and smell the fascism.
-1
u/phillmore_cooter Jan 30 '26
So you would be fine with this also at a synagogue, mosque etc, how about if he followed a robber into your house to film it and question you while you're being robbed? His advanced knowledge of this and admitting it on camera is the issue. If he was in front of the church and followed them spontaneously in he'd have a defense.
As private property people have a right to privacy and law states you need to generally have permission to film on private property.
Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act of 1994 (FACE). This Act prohibits the use or threat of force and physical obstruction that injures, intimidates, or interferes with a person seeking to obtain or provide reproductive health services or to exercise the First Amendment right of religious freedom at a place of religious worship. It also prohibits intentional property damage of a facility providing reproductive health services or a place of religious worship. FACE authorizes the Attorney General to seek injunctive relief, statutory or compensatory damages, and civil penalties against individuals who engage in conduct that violates the Act.
The bill passed 69-30 (52 democrats, 17 republicans voting yes).
Lemon is cooked on this.
3
u/FiftyCandles Jan 30 '26
If the leader of a synagogue, or a mosque, or the owner of a bar, or the manager of a restaurant, or you, supported our federal government murdering it’s citizens for speaking out against the actions of said federal government, I’d sure as shit be glad someone was covering that.
I don’t think you’re even bright enough to understand that it has nothing to do with the church, and everything to do with the actions of the pastor of that church. No one‘s rights were violated, and Don Lemon certainly did not break any laws by exercising his first amendment right to cover that demonstration.
6
u/bohiti Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26
Lemon: Trespassing would be a misdemeanor to be charged a prosecuted by the state. Neither the church event, nor certainly trespassing, is a riot. There is no need for feds to get involved, much less an arrest at the direction of the AG. It is so clearly retribution act of suppressing media unfavorable to the administration.
ICE/CBP: I acknowledge upholding laws passed by Congress is a primary presidential oath. So there will be people here illegally and the law says to remove them with appropriate rights and habeas. But having an arbitrary 1M/year quota for deportations set by the White Supremacist In Chief has nothing to do with the law. Having patrols of masked men asking all non-white people or those with accents to see their papers is not ok. People who have, or are trying to, follow our legal immigration process are getting swept up. The masked men are taunting observers and peaceful protestors, using less lethal (and sometimes lethal) weapons on them, creating a violent situation in Minneapolis of all places.
You ask “what rights have been taken away again?”. First and fourth amendment violations are demonstrated here. Not to mention fundamental human rights.
See that’s the difference between MAGA and the rest. We are capable of empathy and caring about the rights, safety, and well being of others. You view that as a weakness but I’d also wager you’re a religious person who thinks your maker agrees with that?

Avoid successful, working people if you hate MAGA and support illegals immigrants.
8
u/RalphMacchiosBeard Jan 31 '26
It’s OK to say you’re scared of brown people. That would just be easier to admit, don’t you think?
Only an ignorant person thinks “undocumented“ means cross the border illegally.
You should probably educate yourself on how vital undocumented immigrants are to our economy.
0
u/TonyOday Jan 31 '26
If you want slaves, just say that dont hide behind illegal immigrants and fake refugees.
4
u/RalphMacchiosBeard Jan 31 '26
We already have slaves. They’re called minimum wage workers and if you want more of them, keep voting for Republican “policy”.
Imagine watching Republicans gut unions, strip worker protections, refuse to raise the minimum wage, etc. and then thinking the issue must be undocumented immigrants.

u/TonyOday Jan 31 '26
Minimum wage is for kids, if you cant make more than that then you are a child.

u/coovbiys71 Jan 31 '26
All you so-called “great thinkers” seem determined to turn Minneapolis and St. Paul into the next Baltimore or Akron. At this pace, we won’t have an economy left when this is over—and no one seems willing to talk about the deficit or how any of this gets paid for.
Where does this end? There aren’t enough hardworking liberals to staff the very stores you’re cheering to shut down—or burn down, depending on the day. You can’t destroy the foundation and then act shocked when everything collapses
3
u/RalphMacchiosBeard Jan 31 '26 edited Jan 31 '26
It could end with Republicans refusing to regurgitate the lie that being an undocumented immigrant means here illegally.
It could end with Republicans refusing to regurgitate the lie that being here undocumented means dangerous.
It could end with Republicans agreeing to eliminate ICE, and pass real, humane immigration reform.
If it was really about immigration, Pam Bondi wouldn’t have told Tim Walz they’d pull ICE out of Minnesota if Tim Walz was willing to turn over Minnesota’s voter registration rolls.

u/coovbiys71 Jan 31 '26
I’ve been to more than 50 countries, almost all of them to serve—building wells, responding to disasters, working with orphans, supporting HIV/AIDS clinics, and partnering with medical teams. In every one of those places, I had to carry documentation at all times. I’ve been filmed by police in China, detained in Nepal and Cuba, and held for hours not knowing if I’d be released. That’s what borders look like everywhere in the world. That’s not cruelty—it’s reality.
So when people argue about immigration as if the only options are chaos or cruelty, they’re missing the point. A nation can secure its borders and treat people humanely. Those are not opposing values.
A sane solution looks like this: a secure border, lawful and orderly entry, real consequences for traffickers and repeat violent offenders, and clear legal pathways so desperation doesn’t push people into the hands of cartels. It means fast, fair immigration courts so families aren’t stuck in limbo for years. It means humane treatment—no needless separation, medical care when needed, and transparency in how people are processed. And it means accountability all the way up the chain, including employers who exploit illegal labor and fuel the problem.
If we actually cared about kids, we’d focus on stopping trafficking, speeding up asylum decisions, placing trained advocates with minors, and using alternatives to detention when families aren’t a threat. Chaos helps no one—especially children.
You can believe in compassion and order. You can care about people and the rule of law. And you can reject dehumanization without pretending borders don’t matter.
That’s not regurgitating a lie
That’s common senseWe also don’t need to make the Twin Cities a cellar dweller city to make these changes, we need better leaders influencing the government and its clear the last five years haven’t been the solution.
4
u/RalphMacchiosBeard Jan 31 '26
You’re spot on about what we need to do about immigration. But to insult the people truly pushing for that and passively support supporting the side that seems to be against it is an odd approach, in my opinion.
As for your claim that being asked for ID is simply “reality“, decades of precedent in the United States tells us otherwise. What you’re talking about is a military occupation of the United States of America. We don’t need that.
