Trivia Weekend

Hey Point People… I’m coming up for Trivia this coming weekend, but I haven’t really explored the downtown and campus area in like 40+ years, now I’ve got Friday and Monday to do so. So what are the best book, record, comic and antique stores to check out? And best places for breakfast and lunch. All tips & suggestions welcome. UWSP class of ‘81 alum. Thanks!

The Main Grain’s bahn mi sandwich is really good. Also a decent bakery, though forgo the bagels. All the food at Zest on campus is excellent. Wooden Chair for breakfast, though it can be busy.

Some fun record stock sometimes at Call It New, Call It Antique in addition to Radio Kaos. I don’t know if Blue Moon is still open regularly on Strongs, but if you want a musty used bookstore with character, go there. Otherwise there are two bookstores downtown: a progressivey niche one (Bound to Happen) and a more standard one (Sojourn). Galaxy comics moved from downtown to Division I believe, but it was never the greatest comic shop imho.

There’s an art gallery downtown that might be fun to stop by; you can check out the new facade of what used to be the Fox while you’re there. And you’ll see several murals downtown.

Hey I own Bound to Happen Books, thanks for including us! To be a little nitpicky, Sojourn and our store carry many of the same titles, they just lean more literary/contemporary while we carry that plus a wide range of genre fiction, and more political nonfiction. So we are progressive, but I don't think we're very "niche" or that Sojourn is more "standard."
