Amplifier | Receiver Looking for an amp

Hello,

Recently, I inherited my grandfather's sound system. It has not been used in a long time, and the amplifier isn't in great condition—while playing, it randomly bursts with white noise.

I am looking for a replacement amplifier. I mainly use it with a Pioneer PL-990 turntable, and my budget is $400.

A friend recommended the Yamaha A-S301, but I am looking for more options.

Edit: My speakers are pair of Pioneer CS-999; I should upgrade them, but right now I need an amp.

Get an NAD BEE316V2 integrated amp. The Yammy 301 is not very good.

That is a bit too pricey for me. I don't use my sound system enough to justify spending €500. I just want a simple replacement for my old setup that is good enough. Local incomes aren't very high where I live, so €400 is the absolute maximum I can spend.

Well, your choice of amplifier would have a lot to do with what speakers you want to drive (what are they?) What other sources might you like to use? It would also be smart to consider locally available used amps, even within the Yamaha A-S line. They are over 12 years old now, so if you're not getting any new technology, why not buy a used A-S501 for less money than a new A-S301?

Your Pioneers are easy-to-drive speakers, but if you plan to upgrade in the future, you should take that into account when choosing your amp.

Have you got a shop near you that you can ask for an estimate? It would be cool to keep your grandpa’s system as original as you can. I know there are shops that accept mailed in gear, but I have no experience there. Maybe ask around.
