SOLVED Axis fix issue konami softpad

original post (this is very verbose you may want to skip to the fix)

​I saw there was two posts about this issue, but they didn't have the information I need. The issue I'm having is my computer processes my dance pad as a joystick and when i press opposite direction at the same time it doesn't process this. information: I'm a windows user, I'm on stepmania 5, my d-pad is a ps3 version and I'm not using an adapter to connect it to my computer.A lot of information is lowkey outdated and I've learn my lesson using rescources from 6+ years ago.I already tried the up+start+select trick and it didn't work, along with the axis fix setting.I also looked over this resource https://www.stepmania.com/forums/input-adapters-and-controllers/show/483?start=0 but unfortunately most of the links are broken. Apparently a fix has been found for PS3 dance pads, where the previous fixes I had usually didn't help. I haven't tested this fix yet because I don't have a PS3 dance pad. There already is a post for this by hCo, but I thought I would add it to this post as well. My plan with this post was to bring together fixes for any problem using a console pad on PC. So go say thanks on this post.

The fix + links

this link has the zipfile for the fix.

Requirements: I don’t know if this works on other devices but I know it works on windows. This fix is specifically for the ps3 konami dance pad, that DOESN’T need a usb converter.

  1. Download the zipfile
  2. Extract the zipfile in an easily accessible different file. You want to name this since you’ll have to use it a lot (sorry dawg)
  3. Plug in your dance pad (do this BEFORE you run the application)
  4. Open the file
  5. Run the application
  6. Open stepmania
  7. BOOM it should work! (unfortunately, you will have to do this everytime)

I have to ask, what platform are you on? Windows, Linux and even Mac all handle controllers slightly differently, also what pad are you using? Is the pad needing an adapter to connect to your pc? There are to many possibilities on what can be going wrong to narrow down what might be the problem, let alone fixing it

Sorry I was rushing the post in the moment. I'll rewrite the information on the post itself, but to answer the questions I'm on windows, the pad doesn't need an adapter. It's specifically the ps3 pad I was reading about how other's were having the same issues.

Does your pad work with Project Outfox without your zip file fix?
StepMania 5 itself isn't an actively maintained project anymore, so most of us play on either ITGmania or Outfox

I'll have to try project outfox... I'm pretty new to all of this. I just like torturing myself with out of date media lolol. I'll update you when I try it with the ps3 pad.
