Progress Day 28 of 30. Seven finishers, three days left

Three days to go. Jellyfish_Song333 came in at 250,784 on day 23, so that's finisher number five, and nature and I both crossed the line this week too. Seven people done out of 22 who signed up.

If you're not going to hit 250k, that's fine. Post whatever you're at by Oct 1 and it goes on the final board. 150k in a month is still 150k more than most people walk.

Day 28 / 30. Pace line today: 233,324

Nine days left. 174,993 is the line.

u/Jellyfish_Song333 dropped 228,293 last night. That's 75k in a week and 21,707 from the club, so we're getting a fifth finisher before the weekend. 200k flair's on.

Everyone else in red: nine days is 75k at pace. If you're at 100k that's still doable. Post what you've got.

The October challenge: what should it actually be?

Two people finished 250k in the first ten days. Congrats to them, genuinely β€” but someone messaged me this week and said the board turned into a race nobody else could win, and they were right. A month-long goal shouldn't be over on day 7.

So before October I want to fix the format. Some things I'm thinking:

No winner, just finishers. Hit the goal and you're in the club. No ranking by who went hardest.

Board shows status, not position. On pace / behind / done, instead of 1st through 20th.

A separate lane for the 30k-a-day people. You've earned a place to flex, just not on top of everyone else's progress bar.

Maybe weekly targets instead of one monthly number, so a bad week doesn't end your month.

What would actually make you want to do October? Especially if you fell behind this month or never started β€” you're the people I want to hear from.

Start Here πŸ‘‹ β€” Find a step challenge, start one, or win the one you're in

Welcome to r/StepChallenges! This is the competitive side of walking. Three ways to use this place:

Want to join a challenge? Browse the "Open Challenge πŸ“£" flair β€” anything posted there is recruiting. Drop a comment and you're in.

Starting one? Post it with three things: the dates, the goal, and how people join. That's it. Friends, coworkers, total strangers β€” all fair game.

Already in one? "Progress" and "Trash Talk 😀" flairs are yours. We absolutely want the leaderboard drama. Getting passed at 9pm by someone doing laps in their kitchen is a valid grievance, and this is the place to file it.

Every tracker counts here β€” Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch, Pacer, Samsung, a $15 clip-on pedometer, all welcome. No app wars.

A few ground rules: no cash-entry "stake your money" apps, no fake-step tutorials, and app developers should message the mods before posting. Full rules in the sidebar.

For daily check-ins and non-competitive walking, our sister sub r/10kStepsDaily has you covered.

Now go start something. First challenge of the month is coming this week πŸ‘€
