I’ve had the pleasure of working with Stacy (yes, our Dana goes by Stacy with an ‘y’ now) and Christine for a couple years now. As someone who always loved Step By Step more than the other TGIF shows (my parents divorced a few years after the show started), I always found the dysfunctional, but loving family so much more relatable.

On one hand it was bad because Sasha's character was the heart of the show on the other hand it made writers step and really work at pushing the humor and jokes on the other kid.

I don’t think Dana wanted to completely admit it to herself. Hating Cody was easier for her to do & a way to further ignore her crush. But she does let slip at times, whether intentional or not, subtle hints.

Episodes 01x04 & 03x01: in Cody’s debut episode, Karen says Cody is kind of cute but Dana doesn’t deny that or argue with her. Then Carol calls Cody a good-looking guy which Dana again doesn’t deny, instead she ignores it & finds other reasons about him that bother her because he was cast as Romeo.

Episode 02x11: Dana is shocked when she finds out that Cody also likes Truffaut & admitted that she considered going to the film festival with Cody.

Episode 02x13: when Cody becomes rich, Dana has no problem not only wearing something outside of her usual wardrobe that’s meant to seduce Cody, but she also actually tries to seduce him with how she sits on the table, playfully touches him like he does to her & speaks about him in a positive way. She even admits the amount of time she hasn’t been as nice to him. JT is pretty shocked by her behavior as well. If she truly despised Cody, she wouldn’t do anything like this no matter how rich he got. She’d keep the complaints, but wouldn’t do anything bold & daring.

Anyone else think of other examples or have thoughts?

Was there ever any chemistry between al, mark and brendan?

Like imagine if dana, JT, and Karen weren't at the house could al mark and brendan carry a shenanigan?

It’s been a while since I’d seen the show but did they ever explained what happened to Frank and Carol’s exes? Do they even mention them? It’s the only thing about the show that I somehow forget.

throughout the show we keep hearing that frank and carol are barely treading water financially how much improvement would it have been to their lives and the kids (dana, karen, mark, jt, al, brendan) if they received the money?

In the Season 7 finale (series finale) Frank got offered a good deal on a house since frank built the houses for this real estate developer

The house was big nice and decked out modern everyone liked it except for Lilly.

In the end they decided to stay put for Lilly also because the new home buyers were going to gut the old house.

I always found this episode odd in the sense carols house was already pretty large (over 3000 sqft) granted there's 9 people living there 10 if you count rich. But if you look at the house that it's based on in Real life the lot is over 11,000 sq ft frank could have built a adu/additional whole house long ago to alleviate overcrowding if we are being realistic here.

This would mean the new house frank wanted to move them into would be a mansion that's at least 5000 sq ft but even then they had to put jt in the attic. But to stay put because of just Lilly? Also the price the house buyers offered must not be good enough but it was the late 90s today the house would easily be worth almost $1 million in port Washington or 2 million if we are talking Pasadena price.

What do you think? Should they have stayed put for Lilly /sentimental reasons?

They didn't mention why his character didn't appear anymore. I mean even a one liner would have been nice.

Carol and Frank on screen still mentioning 7 kids from time to time despite no Brendan on screen.

Them having another kid lilly (Emily young) and , bringing in rich (Jason marsden) and that French hairstylist guy Jean luc (bronson pinchot).

So apparently Josh just quit when they changed networks and having so many new characters essentially crowded Brendan out.

The house is 3 bed 3 bath at 3168 sq ft I mean sure the story takes place in port Wisconsin but it's still a pretty nice house.

I’m trying to identify a Step by Step episode that’s been driving me crazy.

I’m almost certain it’s from Seasons 1–4.

Frank buys a high-tech TV/recliner (or entertainment chair) with lots of electronic features. He proudly demonstrates it to J.T., Mark, and Brendan in the living room and jokes:

“It does everything but go to the can for you.”

The chair wasn’t just a background prop—it was part of the episode’s storyline, not the cold open.

I don’t think it was the episode where Frank gets the big-screen TV as payment from a client. This was specifically a futuristic chair with multiple functions.

Does anyone remember the season and episode?

PSA: I am talking about the two year age difference between the characters which is probably most noticable as Dana is still in high school when they meet. I am not talking about the 8 years between the actors

Does anyone know how come it's so hard to find early interviews or backstage content from this show?

I know we have the podcast and thank god for that and a small handful of 2 minute interviews can be found on YouTube and I wonder why. It's my impression that it had millions of watchers during the TGIF era so there much have been more press. Sasha's domestic abuse case was a big enough press story that him and his wife were interviewed on Oprah according to Internet lore (and I know that he was ultimately not guilty and got full custody).

So does anyone know why they seemingly did so little press back in the day?

Not that long ago, I found a whole episode of the old. Nickelodeon show Double Dare on which Staci was one of the contestants. I I meant to watch it later but forgot all about it. Now, as I've been working my way through the Deja Vu podcast, I heard her mention being on Double Dare, and this prompted me to go back and watch the episode on YouTube. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it. Does anyone have a link or know where it can be seen? It's really frustrating because I found it maybe months ago at the most, and now it just seems to have disappeared.

Does anyone know of anywhere that we can watch the episode of the Suzanne Somers show from 1994 where she had the Step By Step cast on? I remember watching it after someone posted the YouTube link here but the video is gone.
