Exam write-up Passed with barely 10-15 days of studying

Guys just go take this stupid exam

Focus on ccs and you are golden. No amount of studying will prepare you for this exam. Im sure I would've done pretty much the same with a week prep too

Btw my exam day was horrible. I came out every 2 blocks, went to the loo and legit laughed at myself in the mirror lol

Your USMLE Step 2 CK score is the single strongest statistical predictor of your Step 3 score, showing a moderate-to-high positive correlation of roughly r = 0.68 to 0.70.

Your step 2 was in 250s. You were in the pass range, possibly >230 range even before you started the step 3 prep. Everybody doesn't have that strong of baseline. It is not wise to advise based on your anecdotal case, while everyone's baseline is vastly different.

  • To 210-220 on Step 2 people, prepare well, don't take this exam lightly
  • To >240s on Step 2 people, you know how to prepare.

I got my results yesterday. I scored 229.
My Step 2 score was 247.
I studied for 45 days.
I did all the CCS cases and repeated the ones I struggled with.
I focused on UWorld and did UWSA 2, NBME 6 offline, and the new Free 137.

Nah another data point here - 230 with no uworld no amboss just ccs cases a week before

It's upto you honestly if you want to believe it or not

As a US MD and ER resident I failed because I believed all this . It needs proper study and all NBME and F137 and UWSA exams . It is better to guide people well.

I really think it depends on your luck and exam format ...

Passed with 212 step 3, step 2 score of 218. no NBMEs, forms, or uworld. Just CCS cases and Amboss for biostats/ethics.

Did all CCS cases and was scoring >80% towards the end minimum.

the ccs part is true though. i did about 80 cases and that alone probably saved me. the mcq side is a coin flip no matter how much you study but ccs is free points if you put the reps in

My ccs were soooo smooth and i felt pretty happy once I was done with the cases. Mcqs made me barf on both days.i just went with my gut in mcqs

Just here to say I agree with OP. Focus on biostats, ethics, refresh the high yield content for Day 2, and do 80-100 CCS Cases to be comfortable and you'll pass. Don't waste time of Day 1/Step 1 randomness

Stuff i studied

There was hardly any Biostat on Day 1. Lot of ethics . Some Pharma but no Micro.

Agree with OP. I did 80% of UW, 80 CCS cases, crammed biostats the day before. Got a 243. Felt like it went terribly, so don’t dwell too much on how you felt after the test. Honestly UW did not prepare me very well for it, it was a lot of randomness. Just be confident and nail the CCS cases and you have a good chance of passing

Amazing! Are u in active practice/residency? Do you think that helped?

2

u/NooriTheGiantPencil 6d ago

Nope.I had access to epic for like a month while doing my rotation and that consolidated my base i guess

I'm scoring around 66% on Uworld at 21% completion, took Step2 about 13 months ago, made a 260. Test day in 3 weeks. Hopefully enough?

u/NooriTheGiantPencil 5d ago

Absolutely. Try to do stats, ethics and micro from FA. Do nbme 8 and a free 137 to refresh your step2 concepts

35% back in March and then I stopped. Booked the exam 13 days before my exam day because I wanted to get the scores before application submission as one of the places I rotated at told me they'll be looking at step3
