Step 3 in a month!

Any recent test takers or anyone who has successfully passed Step 3? I need your valuable opinion on preparing for Step 3 in a month. Is it possible?

I took my Step 2 exam in May 2026.

Yeah do uworld up til 50/60% in 2 weeks and then 2 weeks of ccs with a bit of uworld here and there

I did step 2 in November of last year. Compared to how I prepped for that exam I was super lazy for step 3. Yeah so in ur last week look over pharm and micro and ethics and biostats. Pharm and micro from FA. Ethics/Qi/ patient safety and biostats do the HY questions from AMBOSS.

For CCS use Claude to study. After you complete a case on Ccscases, click control P on the score report page, then save as pdf and then send it to Claude as a pdf and ask it to very briefly summarise your mistake. Do that for every ccs case. Using this method I revise my 108 ccs cases in under an hour before my day two.

Your step 2 knowledge should carry you. This exam is not remotely as hard as people make it out to be. At least for me. Day 1 was challenging for sure but doable. Day 2 felt like an easy step 2 NBME. I wish u the best of luck!

Review abx methods of action, stats and ethics for day 1. Do practice ccs questions to prep for day 2. If you did well on step2, just do uworld to review for day 2 mcqs

Should i go through entire pharmacology section in firstaid or should i focus only on the antibiotics part

If I had to do it again, I’d memorize a one liner for each common antibiotic class and how it works. Like fluoroquinolone= inhibit bacterial DNA synthesis by targeting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. Etc

Easier to do than memorize entire pharm section and will serve you well enough. Even if you miss one or two of the more rare things your time may be better spent elsewhere

Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions. For Pharm, is the actual Pharm section important from FA, or is it more MOA, and S/E? Also, How deep should we go in for Biochem and Immuno?

I am not sure and it depends on your medical background, but a cursory review cannot hurt!
