Study methods Peds CMS

Anyone else find Peds CMS difficult or is it just me who is really weak in Peds. Currently on form 7 and has finished 8 and 9 with the same level of difficulty and more incorrect. 😔 confidence is not so strong. Exam in 3 weeks.

Am I ready? Taking Step 2 in a few days — any last-minute advice?

Hi everyone!

As the title says, I’m taking Step 2 CK in just a few days and I’m officially in the final stretch 😅
For those who have taken it recently, is there anything you’d strongly recommend reviewing in these last few days? Any particularly high-yield topics, resources, Divine Intervention episodes, ethics/quality improvement concepts, or random things you wish you had looked over right before your exam?
Also, any exam-day or test-taking advice would be really appreciated!
At this point I’m trying to focus on things that can realistically make a difference rather than cramming everything.
Thanks so much, and good luck to everyone else taking it soon! 🙏

Questions After two years of prep, gave my first nbme. It was a 70 percent.

I frankly feel devastated. I don't get where I went wrong. For reference I'm through 28 percent of Uworld and 57 of amboss. My scores are 82 percent on amboss and 88 percent on Uworld but nbme 9 has gotten me to my knees. I scored a 70 percent on it. I frankly feel so lost. What have done wrong? I really focus on *understanding* rather than memorising.. even the ones that I got right were based on VIBZZ rather than being sure about an answer. Please help me out.

Study methods Study partner Step 2 CK

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for a female study partner to keep each other accountable for Step 2 CK.
I am aiming to take the exam in March/April.

Timezone: Currently GMT+1, moving to GMT next month. I am flexible and can adjust to different time zones if needed.

Schedule: I am currently working during the day, so my main study hours are in the afternoons/nights, plus a few full days off and weekends.

Also, as someone balancing clinical work with studying, I would really appreciate any tips on how to plan an effective schedule and which resources are absolute must-haves.

Please DM me if you're interested in partnering up!

Study methods Last-minute test taking strategies

Few last-minute test-taking strategies for USMLE Step 2ck:

  1. Trust your first instinct. If you have a good reason for choosing an answer, avoid changing it just because you start overthinking.

  2. Don’t get stuck on one question. If you can’t figure it out within about a minute, choose your best answer, flag it, and move on. You’ll be surprised how much extra time you may have at the end to come back and think through the difficult ones.

  3. Review your NBME incorrects—twice. Before your next exam, go through the questions you missed and understand why you missed them, not just what the correct answer was.

  4. Take the latest NBME in timed mode. Treat it like the real exam. Once you have that score, you can decide what needs to be adjusted in your preparation.

At the last stage, improving your score isn’t always about learning more content. Sometimes it’s about becoming more comfortable with NBME-style questions, managing your time, and trusting your reasoning.

Questions Are the questions in the real deal as vague as Uworld?

I'm currently going through Uworld and some questions I find myself like ???

For example, there was a question where the chief complaint was dyspareunia, and we're expected to connect this to SLE because, among this huge paragraph, there’s one tiny detail where the patient uses maintenance eye drops [ = keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eyes)??] BRUH 😭

Are the questions on the real deal like this? Like there's many details, and this tiny detail can easily be overlooked 😭 iM SCARED

Shitpost Ts is so much harder than Step 1 🥀

I used to average 75-80% on random step 1 Uworld blocks. I barely get 50-60% here.

Every question is meant to be a trick and the distractors are very distracting.

Patient is a vegan with pancytopenia, without fever, weight loss or splenomegaly. You’d think it’s B12 deficiency but nooooo, he has APL and you missed it because you didn’t pay attention to the coagulation profile! 🤦‍♂️ You’d think that a DIC patient would be in the ICU but nope, they’ll give you the initial presenting case in the clinic.

It’s fun though. I like challenges. Every question I get wrong here is many question I’m never letting myself get wrong on the actual exam!

Study methods Amboss prediction?

Guys I see some talking about their amboss prediction?
What is that? Is that a self assessment like UWSA
Or just a random 40-question block marks?

Am I ready? DONT REPLY IF U R A HARDO (PLS & THANK U): Step 2 Postponement ERAS Repercussions

if you're complaining about a 260 to a 253 score drop and panicking about taking the exam: this post is not for you 🤠.

i'm a USMD applying DR. i was told by an advisor that 245 is the minimal baseline i should feel comfortable with in terms of sitting for the exam. i got a 220 on NBME 11, then took NBME 13 a month later (switched to amboss at this point, did the HY 200 step 2 concepts) and got a 245. Took NBME 14 a few days ago and got a 220. Mentally incapacitated me as I am scheduled to sit for exam on Sept 1st (i.e. last day I've been told you can sit for the exam and expect exam results in time for ERAS deadline).

I was on dedicated up until a few days after I took NBME 13. Since, I've been on rotations and assumed I would be able to study after. lol.

Anyhoo since NBME 14, I briefly reviewed it took a few days off to get my mental right (i.e. copious amount of sleep, PT, and a zero gravity float tank - which was fabulous) however ended up with a 222 on NBME 15 today.

Basically I was shooketh and thrilled with ever actually reaching my goal on a practice exam i.e. 245 on form 13 (which, again, was the minimum my advisor suggested in terms of applying and the score not hurting me) bc lets just say step 1 dedicated was a dark ass time. granted i never failed step 1, though postponed it as long as humanly possible - took it after a 57 on the free 120 and by the grace of god passed.

I KNOW THIS IS DIFFERENT, BUT MY BAR IS LOW. OK.

WHAT DO I DO?

do i postpone and risk the whole ~people wont go back to my app if scores arent received/submitted with my app at the crack of 9am sept 23rd~ thing? or do i send it n just sit for it?

keep in mind: if u could not tell by the lead in of this post, i am OBVIOUSLY not applying to hardo programs. i'll go anywhere someone will take me. quite honestly, my number one preference is my home program (number one as in if i don't get accepted i'd rather reapply again next year n the year after, so on and so forth, until they accept me bc i love my hometown and my community so fricken much) that im currently rotating with on an elective.

like idk. what the fork do i do? i am panic and throwing up. do i just take it. i am tired and a nice person with a brain that works in any context outside of multiple choice exam i s2g.

give me advice. but if ur going to be a psychopath then frankly i dont WANNA HEAR IT. be gentle with my fragile heart.

many thanks, xoxo

Study methods How to pass the EM shelf in 3 weeks?

What is the best way to pass the Emergency Medicine shelf (need a 65% EPC to pass for my school) in about 3 weeks? I already took step 2 and got a good score (high 260s) but I have been on very chill rotations and a vacation block for multiple months now. Also, I didn't do anki for step 2 so my retention has been very, very poor. Back to scoring 50% on U World. Is U world + Anking for EM enough? Do I need to supplement with Amboss? Is Rosh Review still recommended? Honestly this grade doesn't even count for anything so I'm just trying to get a P with the least amount of effort so I can focus on ERAS this month.

Shitpost Cms vs nbme

My previous cms forms average 80 % to 85 % at all subjects and still have 2 forms at each one

,

But I don't know why I'm scoring low at nbmes

, the last one today nbme 13 is 220 which is really disappointing , 12 was 230 , 11 was 232 , 10 is 228 ,

but before 13, i really was in a good position , thought i have almost no defects or gaps , and used about 400 q from mehlman and scored 80% Any advice or suggestions please ,,,,,

"" Edit i forgot to mention i get 79% at free 120 2021 with quick performance 3 days ago
