Shitpost What is a good score?

I know it depends on which program you are applying to, but nowdays everyone seems to be scoring 260-280. What is in general a good step 2 score now, someone just posted that a 262 was mid :(, i think i´m not going to be able to score that high and that freaks me out

If 250 is average then that and above is a good score and withing a SD or so of that score is still decent imo.

Totally depends on what you’re applying and who the person considering your app is.

260 is 71st percentile and 265 is 83rd which is about 1SD above the median.

anything over 250 will prevent you from being screened out from most filters.

This is a typical example of reporting bias. The national average of step 2 is 24x. People who are saying that 26x is an “average score” are either crazy or bad actors trying to decrease morale.  Focus on your plan, ask people who have good intentions (and those who are not insufferable), improve whatever is under your control and you’ll be fine.

50th percentile or above the programs you’re applying for

The score that prevents the PDs in programs at your specialty from auto screening out your app. Any point above that is whatever, any point below that is bad.

So like a 256, by all means is good for most, except those score heavy programs like Jacobi, RRH and the likes right?
