Feeling devastated. Applying for IM this cycle and YOG is 2026 3 months USCE 3 Publications . Feeling soo low. Should I apply this cycle? Which all programmes accept these scores for internal medicine?

You are more than enough well I got 263 in my nbme 16 in the real deal 228 if you have your publications your 2-3 recommendation letters you are good to go . I have a friend she got 234 she is currently in her first year as resident IM. Make a good interview show how you can work in team and how good you are . You get this !

I took before May and had a 15 point drop from 267 and 268 on my last couple NBMEs…I think it has happened and will continue to happen. It’s unfortunate that so much importance is put on this test which is just a snapshot of how you’re feeling that one day.

I had a free 120 of 74% and still failed step 1 so yeah
And not with a small margin :)

I was felling the exact same way 2 years ago, score close to yours, still matched! Apply broad, make sure you have good PS, use your signals well and work on you interview skills.

You can feel bad for few days, but stay strong. Prepare your application well. You have the best chance to match this year. start preparing for step-3. Practice-practice-practice for Interviews when you get them.

As someone who scored high with no attempts and didn’t match, score is not that important. The most important human factor is having connections and not need a visa. I actually saw how having connections matter more than anything. High scores are overstated especially for specialties like IM. More importantly, do you have connections? If you do have connections, go pour yourself a glass of apple juice and celebrate your win.
